Alta Roofing & Waterproofing Introduce
Choosing a roofing contractor in San Diego, California, is a decision that requires careful consideration. A reliable roof is critical for protecting a home or business from the elements and preserving its value. As local homeowners and property managers navigate this important choice, it's essential to have a clear understanding of the companies available, their services, and their reputation. This article provides a factual overview of Alta Roofing & Waterproofing, a company that serves the San Diego area, to help locals make an informed decision.
Alta Roofing & Waterproofing is a company with a local presence in San Diego, specializing in a variety of roofing and waterproofing services. They have experience working on projects for both individual homeowners and larger entities, such as Homeowners Associations (HOAs). The company's name itself highlights its focus on not just roofing, but also on waterproofing, which is a crucial aspect of building protection, especially in a region prone to both intense sun and seasonal rain. Their longevity in the industry, dating back to a predecessor company established in 1989, suggests a long-standing commitment to the San Diego market.
However, it is important for potential clients to be aware of the full spectrum of customer experiences. While some testimonials found on the company's website praise their responsiveness and quality of work, a number of detailed public reviews from different sources, including those from homeowners in HOA-led projects, raise significant concerns. These reviews mention issues with professionalism, worksite cleanliness, and communication, along with allegations of damage to property and a refusal to take responsibility for it. These are critical factors for any homeowner to consider, as a roofing project can be disruptive and requires a high level of trust between the client and the contractor. These accounts also mention the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) and the Better Business Bureau (BBB), indicating that customers have taken formal steps to address their concerns.
Alta Roofing & Waterproofing is located at 5665 Kearny Villa Rd, San Diego, CA 92123, USA. This address places them in a centralized San Diego location, providing easy access to major freeways and allowing them to serve a wide range of neighborhoods across the city and the county. For locals, a central location is a significant advantage, as it often means quicker response times for both scheduled projects and emergency situations. Their presence in the Kearny Mesa area, a hub for many businesses, also suggests a strong operational base within the San Diego community.
The company's deep roots in the area provide them with a comprehensive understanding of local building codes and the specific roofing needs of the San Diego climate. This local expertise is an important consideration for clients, as it helps ensure that all work is compliant with city and county regulations and that the materials used are suitable for the region's environmental conditions. Their focus on both roofing and waterproofing indicates an understanding of the need for comprehensive protection against moisture, which is a key concern for property owners in California.
Alta Roofing & Waterproofing provides a range of services that cater to various roofing needs, for both residential and commercial properties. Based on their name and business type, these services would likely include:

Their location in the city provides logistical advantages, and their experience with diverse projects, including those for HOAs, demonstrates their capacity to handle a variety of needs. The provided reviews from customers highlight significant concerns about project management, worksite safety, and accountability for damages. Alta Roofing & Waterproofing Reviews
HOA
★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I did not hire this company. My HOA did. I had a numerous issues from the start of the project where they had to replace the roof on my condo. They were unprofessional in the cleanliness and awareness of the residence. After the roof was completed, I found damage done to my air conditioning Where a pipe was dislodged and vent cap was not installed, causing water to enter my furnace and damage components to my air-conditioning unit. They denied all responsibility and refused to fix the issue they caused. I will be filing a complaint with the CSLB. Beware hiring this company.
Mar 07, 2025 · Aaron RendonThis is absolutely the worst roofing company to ever exist. They are complete scam artists. They won the contract with our HOA. The workers were throwing all the roofing garbage off the roofs without warning on every roof. It took us ten minutes to get their attention to stop so we could pass through and get inside of our home. This isn’t even the worst thing. They promised our HOA that they would have these roofs done before the rains. Well, they had all the roofs off before the rains, but not done. Just on my street alone there were ten homes that got flooded by the rains because of these scammers. And this corporate giant wouldn’t take any responsibility. They took off our rain gutters and never put them back. It has been over a year. Twice they had someone come out to ensure us that it wasn’t their fault, but I’m not an idiot I watched them take the rain gutters off and we have pictures of our home with rain gutters before they came along. Both times some garbage manager came out said it’s not their fault but they would take care of it for us. Bunch of liars. We are still finding roofing nails all over the floors, there are many many children in this neighborhood that’s what this community is known for. They don’t care. They no they were the lowest bidder so they can’t take the time to get things done right and clean up right. Gotta make that money! What a bunch of scam artists. I’m telling you to run away now. This is the worst company. I will be reporting to the CSLB as well as the BBB unless they come fix the issue. Which I know they won’t. They will just attempt to drag it along for the next few years. But they have 30 days to get our rain gutters back on or they will be getting reported. I wish I had the capacity to sue these monsters. They are gangsters, that’s what they are. Liars. Scammers.
Jun 14, 2025 · Nathaniel Young MendivilAlta Roofing was hired by the building managers where I live in Clairemont. A "promised" three week roof replacement last August took more than four months to complete. Their work was SO bad, the HOA of my building has had to hire another roofing company to put on a new roof. If you are in need of roofing repair or replacement, please take a HARD PASS on Alta. They have no idea what they are doing. Thank you.UPDATE: Today is Wednesday, January 22, and these incompetent contractors are back screwing things up again at the condo complex where I live. This nightmare never ends. Avoid the problems. Hire anybody, and I mean anybody over this horrible company.
Jan 22, 2025 · Joe WittichOne of our properties in San Diego needed some repairs to the roof and a friend recommended Alta Roofing. We had a great experience with them. Very knowledgeable and professional. They told us information about our roof system that other roofers did not. We signed up with them for a maintenance plan as we see great value in it. If you have an aging roof, you may want to look into it. Having said this, we highly recommend this company.
Nov 08, 2017 · Tom McBrideWe called 3 different roofing companies and only Alta called us back. These guys did a great job on one of our buildings at a fair price. Ralph, the foreman was great at making sure the crew did the work on schedule. The crew members were all professionals. I highly recommend this roofing company and would use them again in the future.
