I first met Jeff Moore of Capital Siding, Windows and Roofing in 2018. It was time to reroof my 110+ year-old house (that has more hips and angles than a fashion show) and I wanted to do it right. I took 5 bids (6 if you count the company that was a no-show) and ended up with a range of bids that varied by nearly $20,000.Capital came in near the midpoint of the bids but it wasn't the price that sold me - it was the care they put into their bid and the feeling I got from Jeff and, later, his son Danny. They included more detail than any of the other companies I considered and I spent quite a bit of time on the phone with Jeff over the course of a couple of weeks where he answered all of my questions and explained all of my options. Jeff struck me right from the start as an earnest, straight-up guy who was giving me his best offer. No posturing, no pressure, just a good offer and a good feeling.Undertaking a major project on my house, my biggest asset, was stressful. I was worried about everything. Is this a fair price? Is this the right company? Will the crew stay on schedule? Will they damage the property with their equipment? Do I have any idea what I am doing? Ultimately, you have to make a decision and for me, that's usually going with a gut feeling. My gut said Capital so I signed the contract.Once work got underway, Azael, Jeff's primary crew chief, was on site every day. He's a great guy, easy to talk to, always with a smile and a laugh. The crew did their work, cleaned up every day, and kept the materials organized. Couldn't ask for more. Jeff and Danny came out several times during the project and we spoke by phone regularly. Calls were usually returned the same day and always by the next day. Changes (like my decision to add gutter covers) were handled clearly and easily and there were no financial surprises at all. They did an excellent job.If I could do it again, would I choose Capital? Wellllll...yes. In fact, I did!In August of 2023, while I was out of town with my family, our house got walloped by the big hail storm that rolled through Minneapolis. By the time we got home a week later, work had already started on 4 houses on my block.My first call was to Capital and they came out a day later. My beautiful roof and old siding had taken major damage. Danny and one of the roofing crew walked every inch of my roof and took over 100 pictures. The damage was significant but the integrity of the roof was intact. Because of the severity of the storm, Jeff was booked until very late in the season so we decided to push it until the spring of 2024. That turned out to be a good decision as I spent a good portion of the winter arguing with my insurance company. Every time they sent an adjuster or someone to take pictures or get a materials sample, one of Jeff's team was present.I finally got things sorted out with insurance, spring arrived, and Oscar, Capital's other crew chief who is just as approachable and friendly and great as Azael, came out with his guys and got going. They did another beautiful job on the roof and the siding is just fantastic. They did tons of hand-bent aluminum work to mimic the architectural detail my insurance wouldn't cover. I think it looks better than it did originally. My wife and I are completely happy with the work and love with the way our house looks now.Total satisfaction with two excellent jobs six years apart is no fluke. We had Capital reface the front of our house--new LP SmartSide siding, along with some soffit/fascia work and a few other minor repairs. We called Capital as we were referred by friends who had used them and their house looks really nice. I liked Jeff's approach--not a sales call but a consultation with recommendations and options. The price was very fair. The crew of John, Jim, and Tony did outstanding work. Minute details: touch up painting where the LP boards had a scuff from warehouse handling and shipping; caulking around fixtures; nightly clean up. We are very happy with the job and it looks so much better than the cedar front we previously had. I would highly recommend Capital to anyone and would definitely hire them again for future projects.I only give five star reviews online, so I don't post reviews that often. I virtually never write reviews. Period. I figure giving them full payment for services rendered IS my way of reviewing their work. But in the case of Capital Siding, Windows and Roofing, I'm making an exception. Exception is the root word of exceptional, and that's what these guys are. From the first meeting to discuss what we wanted to do (siding, windows, gutters, soffit, fascia, downspouts) to the final walkthrough to make sure we were happy (and we are!), it was first class all the way.Now, if you're looking for quick fix, 3-4 day turnaround, "extreme makeover" type of thing like you see on those ridiculous HGTV home shows, then Capital isn't for you. But if you're looking for meticulous work done at a reasonable pace by super nice people who give a damn about their work and your home, ensuring a high-quality final outcome, then you won't find anyone better. John and Tony (the leaders of the siding crew) were terrific and are highly experienced craftsmen. Jason the gutter installer and Mike the electrician were first-rate. And Bryan, the window installer (I actually think "guru" is not too strong of a word) was absolutely outstanding in everyway.Jeff and Danny offered multiple options and solutions to replacement windows to comply with city codes and were always responsive to emails and phone calls. When we couldn't decide on siding colors, they sent numerous samples without delay. When we couldn't fully decide on same color or white corner pieces for the vinyl siding, they sent both out to the jobsite and had the crew install them so we could see them in a real-world environment to help our decision-making.Capital is not like the huge companies that advertise incessantly on TV...and price their jobs accordingly to make up for that massive marketing expense. It is a family-run business where everyone is involved and all of them operate with integrity because it's not just the company's reputation that's on the line with each job, it's the family's as well.If you've read this far, or if you've skipped to the end, here's all you need to know. When we have work done on our house, we bid it out to 5 or 6 companies. Money is rarely the primary consideration, but of course it is a consideration. Our order of operation is 1) hire good people, 2) hire good tradespersons, and 3) get a good price. With Capital we got all three and we hired them after getting only one other bid. Even then, we knew we wanted to work with Capital before the other company even showed up at our door.Hire Capital Siding, Windows & Roofing. You won't regret it. And the bonus is you'll realize that it actually is possible for "contractor" to not be a bad word.

Capital helped our roof and siding replacement project. Danny, Jeff, and their team have been professional, efficient, and custom-oriented. They worked with my insurance adjuster on the paperwork and itemized bid, picked up damages that were not found/covered in the initial assessment, and made the claim process very smooth. The roofing and siding crews are experienced, well-planned, and most importantly got the work done beautifully. Our house looks awesome. 100% recommended.
