They did a fantastic job installing our new cedar fence!!!
Mar 29, 2025 · Nancy PhalenThey did a fantastic job installing our new cedar fence!!!
Mar 29, 2025 · Nancy PhalenNEVER again! Awhile ago, I moved into an older house that needed some work. Mike did two jobs for me. The first was tearing down a woodworking shop that was in complete disrepair. He and Jared did a very good job. I had to have part of my chimney redone and needed a roofer to reattach my rubber roof to the new chimney. The second job he did was a nightmare! The roof started leaking immediately in the area that he had just "fixed" causing water damage to my ceiling. I, of course, called him right away to tell him. He replied that the leaking was "normal" and that he would NOT come out to fix it (or even just verify what the problem was). I was so unhappy with his service that I did not contact him about the future jobs we had planned. I am too nice of a person, so I didn't negatively report any of this at the time, as I would have felt terrible if I had negatively impacted someone's business. In light of the recent events of the last two days, I do feel compelled to recount my experience with Mike Durst at Kodiak. I am doing more remodeling, so I thought I'd call him to give him another chance to fix his work. That was a huge mistake! I should've kept him "fired" and not tried to have him fix anything of mine ever again. When I called him yesterday, he agreed to come out later that day to take a look at it. He called me back five minutes later, saying that I am a liar, and that he would never say that a leaking roof was "normal" and that I am "misremembering" what happened, as that's not how he does business. He said that he, in fact, did fix that initial leak I complained about, which is simply not true, as he refused to even look at the problem. None of that made any sense to me since he had been denying that I even told him there was a problem with the roof, to now saying he fixed my roof after I initially complained about it leaking. When I questioned how both of these contradictory statements could both be true, he started yelling and screaming at me. He then began threatening me that if I was going to sue him, he'd make sure I'd... I cut him off at this point telling him I wasn't going to sue him. (I NEVER mentioned suing him, but it did make me wonder why he would jump to that so quickly. Perhaps he's been sued before?) I stated that I had no intention of suing him, but that I was going to leave a bad review. He said he had ways of removing bad reviews. So OBVIOUSLY his current 5 star rating is incorrect as he somehow has all of the bad reviews removed, and only allows the good reviews to remain. He was still yelling and screaming at me and kept repeating that I was lying about everything. Somehow, he was now blaming ME for the leaking roof. As this "conversation" was going nowhere, and I don't enjoy being called names, threatened, or being a verbal punching bag, I hung up on him. I thought he'd get the very obvious hint that I was no longer interested in dealing with him. He kept harassing me via text, bringing up irrelevant previous conversations, continuing to call me a liar, and refusing to take any responsibility for my leaking roof. He then called me. I ignored his phone call, but I did listen to his voicemail. Essentially, he blamed ME for his terrible behavior. He then demanded an apology for MY bad behavior, which is absolutely laughable. I texted him back saying how I was the one being mistreated, that his behavior is unprofessional, and how it was a mistake on my part to have ever contacted him again in the first place. I did make it clear that he was fired. I then blocked him. He still tried to text and call me, but I am done with being yelled at and called names by someone who says they "guarantee" their work, but obviously does not. I now have to hire someone else and spend more money to fix his mistakes. Unless you hate money, love headaches, like being called a liar, approve of unprofessional behavior, want your roof to leak, and enjoy being screamed at (then blamed for being screamed at), I'd recommend looking elsewhere. I'm sure he'll just respond by saying I am lying.
