Edit: Months later, I update my review from 3 to 1 star and discourage Rhino exteriors for roofing and gutters. Maybe they'd be fine for siding. When we got the roof assessed, we had pointed out an area and said: this area is vulnerable to water--we can see that there was water damage in the past. This area needs extra grading and flashing. We were assured it would be done. Less than a month after the roof was done, I woke up the morning after a rain storm to water in our home. We taped plastic over the area for the winter, and now that we've gotten it fixed and you can see why it leaked. A valley pooling water on the roof, and shoddy flashing dumped water behind our window. Not at all correctly done, and we are now paying someone new to do it right.---- original review---We used Rhino for roof and gutter replacement.Good: The quality of materials and skill of work done. Everything was done well and looks like it will last without issue. I think their quote was slightly lower than some other companies. Not great: Communication and scheduling was a struggle. Every timeline we were told something would be done by came and went, and I always had to reach out to ask Kristopher for an update. The job was completed about 6 weeks later than we were told when we first contacted them-- this was frustrating because the timeline was the sole reason we picked them, and we were trying to schedule other contractors around them. They left extra materials on our property for weeks after the job despite me reaching out multiple times. Also the job was not done entirely to our specifications. We had a couple gutters we wanted redirected to output on the side of the house instead of the backyard (to follow natural drainage). Talked with Rhino about it during contracting, they took pics and notes, but this info wasn't passed on to the gutter crew they subcontracted to so it wasn't implemented; we had to do the rerouting ourselves in an ugly way. We were pretty unhappy with the job being done so much later than we were told and also incorrectly. If you have a straightforward job and no pressing timelines, you'd be fine using them because the work itself is high quality. I'd like to see them communicate more proactively and not make promises they can't keep regarding timelines. I personally don't prefer subcontracting so I wouldn't use them for gutters. - Rachel Campbell

Rhino Exteriors Introduce

For homeowners in Wisconsin, especially in the Oregon and greater Madison area, protecting your home from the elements is a top priority. Our weather is famous for its extremes, and a home's exterior—specifically the roof and siding—is its primary defense. When it's time for a repair, a full replacement, or an exterior renovation, finding a local contractor who can deliver quality work is essential. Rhino Exteriors, based in Oregon, is a company that local residents might consider for these projects. To make an informed decision, it's crucial to look at the available public data and customer feedback to understand what they offer and how they've been reviewed.

Rhino Exteriors is a local business with a physical presence right here in Oregon, Wisconsin. Their address at 215 W Netherwood Rd suite c, Oregon, WI 53575, USA, places them in a prime position to serve the local community and the surrounding areas of Dane County. As a local contractor, they are well-acquainted with the specific needs of homes in our region, including the challenges posed by our harsh winters and unpredictable storm seasons. However, the customer reviews for Rhino Exteriors present a very mixed and detailed picture, which is important for any potential client to consider. The feedback is highly specific and touches on the quality of work, communication, and project management, which are all key factors in a successful home improvement project.

One customer provided a lengthy, two-part review that went from a three-star rating down to a single star after a leak occurred. The original review praised the quality of the materials and the skill of the crew, noting that the quote was competitive. This initial positive feedback is a point of consideration, as it suggests that on a basic level, they are capable of delivering good work. However, the "not great" section of the original review points to significant issues with communication and scheduling. The customer reported that timelines were not met, and they had to consistently reach out for updates. The job was completed six weeks later than promised, which was particularly frustrating as the timeline was the sole reason for choosing the company. Another issue was the use of a subcontractor for gutters, which led to a breakdown in communication and the job not being completed to the customer's specifications. The second part of the review, the updated one, is far more critical. It reveals a major flaw in the roofing job: a leak that caused water damage in the home, less than a month after the work was completed. The customer alleges that despite pointing out a vulnerable area and being assured that extra care would be taken with grading and flashing, the work was done incorrectly. This led to a valley pooling water and shoddy flashing dumping water behind a window, forcing the homeowner to hire a new company for expensive repairs. This is a significant red flag that speaks directly to the core competence and quality control of the company.

In contrast, another review for Rhino Exteriors is overwhelmingly positive. A customer praised the team, specifically mentioning Colter Thom and Ben Brown, for being "amazing" and professional. This customer had a small siding job that was completed successfully, and they were happy with the outcome and the money they saved. This discrepancy in feedback is a common occurrence with many contractors, but the severity of the negative review's issues—a new roof leaking within a month—demands serious attention. The positive review highlights a successful siding project, which aligns with the negative reviewer's suggestion that they "might be fine for siding." This suggests a potential difference in quality or process between their roofing and siding services, or perhaps even a variation in the crew assigned to a project. For a local homeowner, this means it is absolutely critical to get detailed information about a company's process, who will be performing the work, and their specific experience with the type of job being done.

The lessons to be learned from this feedback are clear: while a company might be able to deliver on certain projects, there may be inconsistencies in their communication, project management, and quality control. The issue with subcontracting for the gutters and the eventual failure of the roof installation point to potential weaknesses in their overall operational structure. A local homeowner needs a contractor they can trust to not only get the job done but to get it done correctly the first time, especially on a major investment like a roof. It also highlights the importance of a strong warranty and the company's willingness to stand behind their work, a point that is not directly addressed in the reviews but is a major concern when a new roof fails so quickly.

Based on their name and the customer feedback, Rhino Exteriors appears to offer a range of services related to a home's exterior. A full-service approach can be a benefit for homeowners who want a single contractor to handle multiple aspects of a renovation or repair. Their services would likely include:

  • Siding: Installation and repair of siding to improve a home's aesthetics and protection.

Rhino Exteriors has some notable features and highlights that are evident from the reviews. It's important to consider both the positive and negative aspects to form a comprehensive opinion.

  • Competitive Pricing: A customer noted that their quote was slightly lower than some other companies.
  • Quality Materials: The initial review praised the quality of the materials used in the roofing and gutter replacement.
  • Positive Siding Experience: At least one customer had an excellent experience with a siding project, praising the team and professionalism.
  • Dedicated Team Members: Key team members like Colter Thom and Ben Brown were specifically mentioned for their professional and helpful service.

Rhino Exteriors is located at 215 W Netherwood Rd suite c, Oregon, WI 53575, USA. To get a quote or discuss a project, you can contact them by phone at (608) 630-1452 or via their mobile number at +1 608-630-1452. It is highly recommended that you take the time to speak with them directly to get a clear understanding of their process, their project timelines, and their policies on workmanship and warranty.

For residents of Oregon and the surrounding Wisconsin communities, choosing a local contractor like Rhino Exteriors presents both potential benefits and significant risks. The company has a local presence, offers competitive pricing, and has received praise for certain projects, particularly siding. However, the highly detailed and alarming review about a new roof failing so quickly due to alleged improper installation is a major cause for concern. The issues with communication, missed deadlines, and the use of subcontractors that resulted in a job not being done to spec are also critical points to consider. For a local homeowner, a roof is a long-term investment, and a company's ability to deliver quality work consistently and stand behind it is paramount. Therefore, while Rhino Exteriors may be a suitable choice for straightforward jobs or specific services like siding, the feedback suggests that any potential customer should exercise extreme caution, ask very detailed questions about the roofing process and materials, and get a clear, written agreement on all aspects of the project before hiring them. This thorough approach is the best way to ensure your home is properly protected for years to come in the challenging Wisconsin climate.
