Roof Engineering Corporation Introduce
Introduction / Overview
When Virginia businesses and property managers are faced with roofing challenges, finding a qualified and reliable contractor is a critical step in protecting their investment. In Norfolk, Virginia, Roof Engineering Corporation provides specialized services aimed at commercial and industrial clients. This company focuses on a range of roofing needs, from minor leak repairs to complex structural analyses for rooftop equipment installations. Located in Norfolk, they serve the local community and surrounding regions, offering their expertise in various commercial roofing systems.
Roof Engineering Corporation positions itself as a professional entity capable of handling the intricate demands of commercial and industrial roofing. Their services extend beyond basic installation and repair, including a focus on the engineering side of roofing projects. This is particularly relevant for businesses that are planning to install new HVAC systems, solar arrays, or other heavy equipment on their roofs. A key part of their business involves providing detailed structural analysis and stamped engineering documents for permit approval, ensuring that new installations do not compromise the integrity of the building. This engineering-centric approach is a notable feature of their operation.
The company holds certifications such as being a GAF Certified Commercial Contractor. This certification indicates that they have met specific standards set by GAF, a major roofing manufacturer, and are able to offer certain product warranties and guarantees. Such credentials can provide a level of assurance to business clients who are looking for contractors with demonstrated expertise and a solid industry backing.
While the company focuses on commercial roofing, they offer a breadth of services that address the entire lifecycle of a commercial roof. From initial assessments and design to maintenance and repairs, they aim to be a comprehensive partner for businesses. This holistic approach is designed to provide long-term value and ensure the safety and longevity of a commercial property's roofing system. For commercial property owners in Virginia, navigating the complexities of roofing can be challenging, and a company with specialized knowledge in both the construction and engineering aspects of the field can be a valuable asset.
However, potential clients should be aware of a mixed reception regarding their customer service and billing practices. Public reviews indicate that there have been instances where customers were invoiced for a site visit without prior notification of a trip charge, leading to communication issues and disputes. One customer review detailed a situation where an invoice for a quote was sent, followed by communication difficulties and a perception of unprofessionalism. Another review raised concerns about the conduct of a company driver on the road, which led the reviewer to question the quality of the company’s hiring practices. It is important for potential clients to consider these public experiences when making a decision and to clarify all terms and conditions, including any potential charges, upfront.
Location and Accessibility
Roof Engineering Corporation is located at 3401 Mangrove Ave, Norfolk, VA 23502, USA. This location places them within the greater Hampton Roads area, a key commercial and industrial hub in Virginia. Being based in Norfolk, they are strategically positioned to serve businesses and properties across the city and in neighboring communities such as Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and Newport News. The address is situated in an industrial section of Norfolk, which is typical for a contractor specializing in commercial services.
The company's location provides good accessibility to major roadways and business districts, which is essential for a contractor that services commercial properties. Their proximity to key transportation routes allows them to efficiently mobilize their teams and equipment to various job sites, minimizing project delays. For businesses in the region, having a local contractor means quicker response times for both routine maintenance and urgent repairs, which is particularly critical for commercial operations where a roof issue can lead to significant business disruption.
While their focus is on business-to-business services, their local presence in Norfolk solidifies their role as a part of the regional economy. Their team is familiar with the commercial landscape of Virginia's coastal region, understanding the specific challenges posed by a maritime climate, including high winds and salt exposure. This local knowledge is an important factor in their ability to recommend and implement appropriate roofing solutions that are built to last in the unique environment of coastal Virginia.
The company's location also serves as a central point for administrative and logistical operations. It allows them to manage projects across their service area effectively, from initial client communication to the final completion of work. Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
For businesses and commercial property managers in Norfolk and the wider Hampton Roads area, Roof Engineering Corporation offers a specialized and technically focused approach to roofing. Their suitability for the local commercial market is rooted in their GAF certification and their unique in-house engineering capabilities. This technical expertise is particularly valuable in a business environment where roofing projects often require a more complex understanding of structural integrity, building codes, and safety regulations.
However, potential clients should approach this company with a clear understanding of their service model. Public reviews highlight significant concerns regarding billing practices and customer service. Specifically, there are accounts of clients being invoiced for quotes without prior notification of a fee, and communication issues following attempts to resolve these disputes. This feedback suggests that while their technical services may be strong, their business practices and client communication may require careful navigation.
In a competitive market with many roofing contractors, a business like Roof Engineering Corporation stands out for its niche focus on commercial and industrial projects, which can be an advantage for clients with these specific needs. Their ability to handle tasks like structural analysis for rooftop equipment is a specialized service that not all general roofing companies can provide. However, the importance of clear communication, especially concerning pricing and project scope, cannot be overstated, and based on public reviews, this is a point of concern for potential clients.
Ultimately, for a business in Virginia seeking a contractor with a strong technical background and specific certifications for a commercial project, Roof Engineering Corporation offers a compelling service. To ensure a positive experience, it would be prudent for any prospective client to get a written agreement that explicitly outlines all costs, including site visit fees, before any work or consultation begins. This due diligence is crucial to avoid the billing and communication issues that have been raised by previous customers.

Roof Engineering Corporation Reviews
Business to business, be careful calling this place for a quote. Our firm reached out Jan 2024 for a quote for a roof leak. The request was made for a site visit with in a week or 2. Our firm contacted about 8 companies to look at this roof. We didn't receive a quote from Roof Engineering. Fast forward to March, an invoice comes in the mail as a charge for going to the site. At no time was I ever informed of a fee or trip charge for a quote. Not over the phone and no documents to sign approving this, etc. I called the office in March to let them know what had happened, I was transferred to a man, and after speaking with him, he hung up on me. I thought he was mad, I made a note, filed the invoice and walked away.May 2, 2024 I was emailed from their corporate officer about this invoice. I sent her an email explaining exactly what had transpired in January and March. And that our firm is not paying this invoice. I received an email response of "received." Filed this email with the previous correspondence and moved on with life.Fast forward to today, August 12th. Our firm receives a statement dated 8/7 listing this invoice as past due. I called the office, and didn't get past the receptionist. Once I explained why I was calling, I was placed on hold. She came back to me with an attitude. Said fine, don't pay it. I said ok but your company needs to void this invoice and stop harassing our company. And I was hung up on.So to summarize, the company I work for is being invoiced $165.00 for them to go out and provide a quote for roof repairs. This company never gave a quote for repairs and is trying to invoice the company I am with for this service. Just try one of the other MANY roofers in the area.

One of workers driving a company truck with license plate # 73-856 crossed over 3 lanes of traffic and cut me off while getting on 64 east. This action caused me to break very hard and almost wrecked my vehicle. Based on the actions of this individual I worry about about the quality of people hired by this company.
