- Contracted for Inspection and Repair: The company was contracted to inspect roofs and perform repairs based on these inspections, particularly in the context of home purchases.

When considering a roofing contractor in California, particularly for locals in Newport Beach and the surrounding affluent communities, the choice involves a significant investment in a property's most critical protective layer. Based on the provided customer feedback, potential clients are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and conduct extensive due diligence when considering Gary Fox Roofing. The experiences shared by multiple individuals highlight significant concerns regarding the quality of work, fulfillment of contracted services, and the company's approach to addressing post-service issues.
For Californians who value transparency, reliability, and guaranteed quality, the recurring themes of leaks reappearing shortly after repairs, work being left undone despite contractual agreements, and dismissive responses to warranty claims are substantial red flags. The perspective of an experienced individual with a background in construction, who explicitly stated that work was "shoddy" and "literally did not do work he was paid for," cannot be overlooked. This direct feedback suggests that the outcomes did not meet professional standards, let alone client expectations.
Furthermore, the reported experience of being charged an additional fee to fix an issue that should have been resolved under the initial scope or warranty speaks to a concerning lack of accountability and professional integrity. In California’s consumer-aware environment, such practices are generally met with strong disapproval and can lead to significant dissatisfaction and potential legal disputes, as indicated by one customer's intent to pursue small claims court action.
For locals seeking peace of mind and a genuine commitment to quality, the consistent pattern of negative experiences, as reinforced by multiple similar complaints, suggests that Gary Fox Roofing may not be a suitable choice for reliable and trustworthy roofing services. While every company has its share of varied feedback, the specific nature and consistency of these severe complaints, touching upon fundamental aspects of contractual agreements and service delivery, warrant serious consideration.
Therefore, locals are strongly encouraged to "avoid at all costs" and "look elsewhere for reliable and trustworthy roofing services." This assessment is directly informed by the critical customer experiences provided, emphasizing the importance of securing a roofing contractor in California who can unequivocally demonstrate a consistent track record of quality workmanship, honest dealings, and robust post-service support.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1DO NOT USE! Like others, Gary Fox was recommended by my real estate agent. He was contracted to inspect our roof. He said the roof was in good condition and told us there was a few things to fix which he supposedly repaired. The roof leaked 2 months after buying with first rain and one of the leaks came from a skylight he supposedly repaired. The contract said he worked on 3 skylights but only repaired 1 and was suppose to increase the width of the valleys which again he did not do. This was at my son's home. I was a Fire Captain for 34 years and worked in construction before that so I have been on 100's of roofs and understand what should have been done. Unfortunately I was out of town for his bid and his repairs. I personally got on the roof and have had 2 additional roofers come look at the roof and both said not only did he do shoddy work but literally did not do work he was paid for in contract. Will be suing him in small claims court. AVOID at all costs!!!
Feb 26, 2025 · Ray TongI strongly recommend avoiding this company. I had a professional roof inspection done during our home purchase, and some roof repairs were identified. Gary ended up being hired by the sellers for these roof repairs, but not even a month later, I noticed a leak in the main bathroom. I reached out to Gary as he provides "warranty" on his work, but his employee Erin was extremely dismissive, claiming that the PROFESSIONAL ROOF INSPECTOR I hired didn't know what he was talking about and that Gary "stood by his work," despite the fact that the leak was clearly still there. To make matters worse, he tried to charge me $285 just to come out and fix the issue that should have been handled correctly from the start. This company has a clear lack of professionalism, and their approach to fixing mistakes is unacceptable. I've also seen several other customers complain about similar issues, which only reinforces my experience. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for reliable and trustworthy roofing services!

Jun 18, 2021 · Ashlyn Linville MooreIf I could give negative stars I would. Last year my husband and I bought a house. The original roofing inspection said we needed a new roof. The seller's agent asked for another opinion and contacted Gary Fox. He said the roof was fine and just needed minor repairs including fixing the flashing around our skylight.Last year it began raining inside my house. I reached out to Gary Fox about coming back to see if the leaks were part of his repairs because we were assured he guaranteed his work. He said he'd come out and gave us a day but no time. We waited all day. I reached out late afternoon to see if he was still coming. We got a response from someone named Jill who basically said he was too busy and to find someone else.Turns out our roof was in horrible condition. We had the leaking side repaired.Last week the other side of our roof started leaking. The claims adjuster told us the skylight flashing was old and needed to be replaced. Which was part of what Gary said he had done when he "fixed" our roof last year before we moved in.So not only does he not actually repair your roof, he won't guarantee his work, call you back, or even show up. So now I'm out several thousand dollars because he did a terrible job of inspecting our roof AND didn't actually do what he said he would.
Dec 04, 2023 · Amanda RiddleGary Fox was recommended by a friend who was extremely happy with his work on his roof. When I contacted Gary he promptly returned my call and set up an appointment at my early convenience. His estimate was fair and comparative to other contractors. Gary's attitude was professional and friendly. The job was done right with attention to detail. He was careful to leave no mess behind with everything done to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend Gary Fox Roofing.
