Harden's Improvements Reviews
Dishonest, price gauging. Aug 1, 2022 Clint Harden looked at my roof to repair a small leak in corner of sunporch. After 5 minutes he said he could fix it but the materials would be the most costly. He gave me a price of $800 which included materials and about 2 hours labor. He and 2 workers arrived the next day. After 15 minutes they were done and removing the ladder. They took half of the roll of tape back to the truck. I asked if that was the balance of the 50 foot roll and he said yes, but I was only being charged for half or 25 feet. He told me materials cost about $370. I then complained that would mean over $400 for 15 minutes work by 3 people was extreme and ridiculously high. He stated that he had to get the materials, (2.6 miles), pay his employees, pay for insurance, etc. and I was getting a 5 year warranty for materials and labor. I reluctantly paid him. Two days later a scrap piece of the material blew down on my deck from the roof. I took it to the supply company he purchased it from and they informed me that a 50 foot roll would cost me $130 which included sales tax. 25 feet would be $65, which equates to a 580% markup on materials and also over $400 labor. I called and complained again to Clint and he stated that was the price we agreed to and would not consider any amount of a refund. I would never recommend this company to anyone. It is horrible that there are people who take advantage of others who believe what they are told by what you believe is a reputable company. Obviously they are not. Very disappointing.
Aug 13, 2022 · Kathy TkaczykI was shocked? I have dealt with Jim Harden for years. In 2016 I paid him $4000 to repair the roofand 2018 $250 to do something. And we paid for another repair before 2016. The chimney came down and I called him right away. His wife answered and said she would tell him. I also spoke to both sons. And after a while a leak developed. I called them and no answer. I finally gave up and had someone else fix it.I called up to complain on Good Friday 2019 and Mrs. Harden picked up the line. I was in the middle of leaving a message. She picked up and said that it took 3 months to pay the last bill. What she didn’t realize was that the last bill accomplished nothing. The leak persisted and Mr. Harden said it is coming from inside the chimney. But we still paid the $250. If the leak was coming from inside the chimney what did I pay $250 for? After about 2 or 3 calls she complained about dog poop being in the yard. I was not aware of the issue but there was a new tenant living there. I am sure there was no dog poop. I also offered condolences that Mr. Harden had passed away in 2018. Then the topper was we were next on the list for Holy Saturday, but go find someone else. The problem I have is that if she could not handle the leak, she should have told me a month ago and I would have found someone else to fix the leak.I thought she was very spiteful and not professional. I found someone to fix the leak on Holy Saturday. I called and they had it fixed in 48 hours. When you have a leak you expect it to be fixed in a reasonable time. If not you should be told otherwise. If you want it done fast, call someone else. If you want answers call someone else.My opinionDr. Phil Taverna
