MHI Roofing WV Introduce
For homeowners and businesses across West Virginia, especially in the vibrant community of Morgantown, the roof is an undeniably crucial part of any property. It serves as the primary barrier against the state's diverse and often challenging weather, which can include heavy winter snows, ice, intense rain, and strong winds. A well-installed and meticulously maintained roof is essential for protecting your investment, enhancing energy efficiency, and ensuring the comfort and safety of those within. When it comes to addressing any roofing need, from minor repairs to complete replacements, selecting a knowledgeable and reliable local contractor is paramount. MHI Roofing WV, located in Morgantown, aims to provide these essential services to the community.
MHI Roofing WV positions itself as a provider of quality roofing services for both residential and commercial properties in the Morgantown area. Like many roofing contractors, they strive to deliver durable solutions that withstand West Virginia's climate. However, recent changes within the company structure, specifically an acquisition by a Michigan-based company, appear to have introduced some complexities that prospective clients should be aware of. While some initial interactions, such as those with sales representatives like Armand Rodriguez, have been described positively for their professionalism and clear estimates, other experiences have highlighted significant challenges in customer service, communication, and overall project management.
The importance of choosing a local contractor who is not only skilled but also consistently reliable in communication and follow-through cannot be overstated. Local presence often implies familiarity with regional building codes and the specific environmental stressors on roofs in West Virginia. While MHI Roofing WV maintains a local address, the reported issues with continuity of care and the cycling of agents suggest that the benefits typically associated with a local provider might be impacted by larger corporate restructuring.
This article aims to provide a balanced overview of MHI Roofing WV, detailing their location, the services they offer, highlighting both positive and recent challenging aspects based on public customer feedback, and ultimately, discussing why locals should consider these factors carefully when evaluating this company for their roofing needs in West Virginia.
Location and Accessibility
MHI Roofing WV is located at 1251 Canyon Rd Suite #4, Morgantown, WV 26508, USA. This address places them within the greater Morgantown area, making their services geographically accessible to residents and businesses throughout the city and its surrounding regions in Monongalia County and beyond. Morgantown, a key hub in West Virginia, is generally easy to navigate, and a location on Canyon Road typically offers good access. This local address suggests that MHI Roofing WV aims to provide services conveniently within the community. However, based on recent customer feedback, physical proximity does not always guarantee smooth communication or project management, especially if internal processes are undergoing significant changes. Potential clients should consider that while the company has a local address, the operational flow and customer experience might be influenced by factors beyond the immediate local office.
Services Offered
MHI Roofing WV generally offers a range of standard roofing services for both residential and commercial properties. Based on the nature of a typical roofing contractor in the region, and inferring from customer experiences, their services would likely include:
Roof Replacement: This involves removing old roofing materials and installing a new roofing system. Positive feedback mentions new roofs looking fantastic and holding up well in harsh weather.
Roof Repair: Addressing various issues such as leaks, damaged shingles, and other common wear and tear. One review specifically mentions a repair for a leaking vent boot.
Roof Inspections and Estimates: Providing evaluations of roof condition and detailed estimates for proposed work. This process, as described by a positive review, can be professional and thorough.
Shingle Roofing Installation: Given their market presence, asphalt shingle installation for residential properties would be a primary offering.
Storm Damage Assessment: Assisting clients with assessing damage caused by severe weather events.
Cleanup: Post-job site cleanup is an expected part of the service, although recent negative feedback indicates this can be inconsistent.
It is important to note that while these services are typically offered, the consistency and quality of their execution, particularly in terms of post-installation support and addressing deficiencies, appear to be variable according to recent customer experiences.
Features / Highlights
Based on available public information and customer reviews, MHI Roofing WV presents a mixed set of features and highlights that prospective clients should consider:
Professional Initial Estimates: Some customers have experienced professional, knowledgeable, and pressure-free interactions during the estimation phase, with clear and fair bids provided.
Efficient and Skilled Crews (in some cases): Positive feedback highlights efficient and highly skilled teams that are respectful of property and complete jobs promptly.
Quality of New Roofs (initial assessment): Newly installed roofs have been described as looking fantastic and holding up well in harsh weather, suggesting good initial build quality in some instances.
Challenges with Communication and Continuity of Care: A significant concern raised by a recent customer points to severe issues with customer service continuity, including being passed between multiple agents across different locations (Pittsburgh, Michigan, WV), unreturned voicemails (30-50 total), and a lack of record-keeping regarding site visits or previous communications.
Inconsistent Worksite Cleanup: While some experiences mention a clean worksite, other detailed feedback describes significant issues with trash, nails (both loose on the ground and on the roof/gutters), cut underlayment, plastic stripping, and plywood chunks left behind after the initial installation.
Quality Control and Repair Issues Post-Installation: There have been reports of multiple subsequent repair visits needed shortly after initial installation for issues like leaking vent boots, bubbling shingles due to improper ice/water shield installation, and incorrect ridge vent length/installation that did not meet GAF standards, potentially voiding warranties.
Concerns Regarding Installation Conditions: A customer expressed significant concern over roof replacement being performed in mid-30s temperatures with misty precipitation and recent snow, raising questions about adherence to optimal installation conditions.
Impact of New Ownership: The negative feedback explicitly attributes many of these service and continuity issues to the company being recently purchased by a firm in Michigan, indicating a potential disruption in established local processes and customer service standards.

Conclusion: Why This Place is Suitable for Locals (with considerations)
For homeowners and businesses across West Virginia, particularly in the Morgantown area, MHI Roofing WV presents a company with a local presence and the capability to perform significant roofing projects. For some, the initial estimation process and the quality of the newly installed roof have been satisfactory, demonstrating that positive outcomes are possible. The positive feedback highlights professionalism and efficiency in the actual installation work in certain cases.
However, recent customer experiences reveal significant concerns that locals should weigh carefully. The reported severe breakdowns in communication, continuity of care, and post-installation quality control are critical factors. Issues such as unreturned calls, cycling through multiple agents, inconsistent cleanup, and multiple necessary repairs shortly after installation, some potentially impacting manufacturer warranties (as highlighted by GAF standards), point to potential operational challenges following the recent acquisition.
West Virginia's challenging climate demands a robust and properly installed roof, and the integrity of the installation process, including adherence to material guidelines and proper cleanup, is paramount. While MHI Roofing WV has the local address and offers standard roofing services, prospective clients in Morgantown and surrounding areas should approach with heightened awareness. It would be advisable to explicitly discuss post-installation support, warranty adherence, and internal communication protocols during the estimation phase. Requesting references for recently completed projects and understanding the full implications of the new ownership on day-to-day operations and customer service continuity would be prudent steps for any local considering MHI Roofing WV for their critical roofing needs.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I had a great experience working with Armand Rodriguez for my roofing estimate. He was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to thoroughly inspect my roof. He provided a clear and fair estimate without any pressure, making the process smooth and stress-free.John George and his team from MHI Roofing recently replaced my roof and I could not be happier. From start to finish their team was professional, efficient, and highly skilled. They were respectful of my property, ensuring a clean worksite throughout the process, My new roof looks fantastic and has already held up in harsh weather. I highly recommend MHI Roofing to anyone needing quality roofing services
Mar 06, 2025 · KariI cannot in good conscience recommend this company to anyone. They have just been purchased by a company in Michigan, and there is virtually zero customer service or continuity of care. For three months I was passed from agent to agent in Pittsburgh, then Michigan, then WV, and then cycled all over again. I left more than 30-50 total voicemails over the course of my project without a return call. I would work with a representative for a few days, and then I would be unable to contact them. The next person started the process all over again as the previous agent is “no longer at the company”. Repair crews came out to evaluate what needed to be fixed (after the entire roof was just replaced). Their reports would never get back to the main office, and there was consistently “no record of anyone at our house”.MHI replaced my roof on a day in February 2025 that was mid 30s, overcast, misty precipitation, and it had snowed the night prior – despite my significant expressed concern. I was never contacted by MHI the morning of if the work was going to happen. It was only when my wife went to breakfast with our neighbor (while I was at work) that we found out MHI was actively working at our house. The overall quality of the work left much desired despite the cost and MHI’s reputation. I spent > 30 min cleaning up trash and obvious nails, and there were nails left free on the roof. The gutters were littered handfuls of nails/few feet of gutter. There was trash on the roof and around the house, cut underlayment still on the shingles, plastic stripping/release film left attached, and chunks of plywood sitting on the insulation in the attic from where the roof decking was replaced. Lastly, there had been trash/shingle scraps thrown through the ridge (when exposed). This should have been an expected part of clean up. Furthermore, the baffles in the attic that were under a replaced deck board were removed by MHI yet never replaced or offered to be replaced. MHI stated “I never saw it get thrown away, so it’s probably somewhere”.Within a week, I had to have MHI come out to repair a leaking vent boot. They also cleaned up a contractor bag full of trash left in the gutters and around the house from the initial install. This was to the degree of the workers throwing full pieces of flashing and handfuls of debris out of my gutters that had been left from the day of install.Within the first month, the shingles were starting to bubble on the front of the house due to improper installation of the ice/water shield. This issue was repaired two months after initial install. Additionally, they had to completely redo my entire ridge vent as it was significantly shortened (to less than 1/3 the length of my house) during install without my knowledge. The repair was only after I called multiple times to request it be returned to its original length. After the initial install, I could see light through the singles that span the ridge cap that are not in the ridge vent, and it significantly concerned me for the potential of water or other precipitation to enter my attic space. I could also see that the roofing/shingle underlayment did not cross the ridge cap in the areas that do not have the ridge vent. Per GAF standards, the underlayment should cross the ridge cap in areas not covered by the ridge vent to the other side of the roof and overlap 4-6” (GAF TAB-R-164). This was additionally confirmed w/ GAF online technical support services, and it currently would be a “warranty voiding” as this would be a misapplication, per GAF.After spending ~$16,000 and having a full roof replacement and three subsequent repairs, I expected top-of-the-line craftsmanship, integrity, clean up, quality customer service, and an overall seamless experience. However, I am unable to utilize any of those adjectives to describe my experience. The poor quality of work, significant gap in communication/inability to contact MHI, and the lack of overall customer service was shocking coming from a company of this magnitude and reputation.
