Murphy Roofing Introduce
For homeowners in Pennsylvania, a robust and well-maintained roof is a critical necessity, providing protection from the region's diverse weather patterns, including heavy rain, snow, and severe storms. When a roof issue arises, whether it’s a minor leak or a major repair, selecting a trustworthy and responsive contractor is paramount. Murphy Roofing is a company that has been a part of the Philadelphia community, offering various roofing services to local residents. However, the true measure of a company’s value lies not just in the services it offers, but in its ability to stand by its work and provide consistent customer support. This article is designed to give local users a clear, factual, and balanced look at Murphy Roofing, combining their public information with important feedback from real customers. This overview is essential for anyone in the Pennsylvania region who is considering this company for their roofing needs.
The home improvement industry, especially for a high-stakes project like roofing, can be a complex landscape to navigate. While a company may present itself as a solution provider, a homeowner’s experience can vary significantly based on factors like communication, quality of work, and post-service follow-up. For Murphy Roofing, public reviews paint a concerning picture of these critical aspects. Multiple customer accounts detail frustrating experiences with unresolved issues, including persistent leaks and malfunctioning gutters, as well as a significant lack of communication from the company's leadership. This kind of feedback is invaluable for any local user, as it sheds light on potential challenges that may not be apparent from a simple list of services.
The purpose of this article is to serve as an informative resource, presenting all available public data without invention. We will delve into the company's location and accessibility, provide a summary of the services they are known to offer, and, most importantly, highlight the key points from customer reviews. The tone will remain professional and friendly, but it is grounded in the necessity of being factual. By presenting a complete picture of Murphy Roofing, we aim to empower locals in Pennsylvania to make a cautious and well-researched decision, understanding both the company’s stated offerings and the potential risks highlighted by other consumers.
Murphy Roofing is located at 6238 Ridge Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19128, USA. This address places the business in a prominent and accessible part of the Roxborough neighborhood, a well-established community in Philadelphia. Ridge Avenue is a major thoroughfare, making the location easy to find for residents in the immediate area and surrounding neighborhoods. For a roofing company, a physical address can be a sign of a stable and established presence in the community. It provides a base of operations for their staff and equipment and gives a potential client a place to visit if needed. The local presence of Murphy Roofing signifies that they are a part of the community they serve, with a history of working on homes in the Philadelphia area.
However, accessibility is about more than just a physical location. A critical and recurring theme in customer reviews is the company's reported lack of responsiveness and follow-up. One customer noted that after a roof was installed, a small leak and faulty gutters were never fixed, despite repeated attempts to contact the owner. This lack of communication, even after a problem has been identified, directly impacts the company's accessibility from a customer's perspective. Another review describes a similar situation where a leak caused a hole in a child’s ceiling, and despite multiple calls, the company owner reportedly refused to take responsibility for the internal damage and never followed up. For a local user, this is a significant concern. The ability to reach a contractor and have them honor their work and address problems is a non-negotiable part of a trustworthy service. While Murphy Roofing is physically located on a busy street in Philadelphia, its reported inaccessibility through communication channels and its unwillingness to resolve customer issues seriously diminishes the value of that physical presence. For Pennsylvanians who rely on a contractor to be responsive, this is a major factor to consider.
Services Offered:
- Shingle Roofing: Based on information from a third-party source, Murphy Roofing specializes in shingle roofing, a popular choice for residential properties in the region.
- Flat Roofing: They also offer services for flat roofs, which are common on many Philadelphia row homes and commercial buildings.
- Skylight and Vent Systems: The company handles installations and repairs for skylights and vent systems, which are integral parts of a home’s roofing structure.
- Siding, Gutters & Downspouts: In addition to roofing, they provide services for siding and gutters, which are crucial for a home’s exterior protection and water management.
- Chimney Repairs: The company also performs chimney repairs, an important service for maintaining a watertight seal where the chimney meets the roof.
- Snow Removal: They offer snow removal services, a useful feature for commercial and multi-family properties during Pennsylvania winters.
Features / Highlights:
- Wide Range of Services: Murphy Roofing's service list is comprehensive, covering not only roofing but also siding, gutters, and chimney repair. This can be convenient for homeowners who need a single contractor for various exterior projects.
- Customer Concerns Regarding Follow-up: A major highlight from customer reviews is the company's alleged failure to follow up on problems after the initial installation. Reviews from multiple customers describe unresolved leaks, poor gutter installation, and a lack of communication from the company owner, which is a serious red flag for potential clients.
- Warranties and Accountability: One review mentions a leak appearing a year after a roof was completed, leading to a hole in the ceiling. The customer's inability to get the company to address the issue and a reported refusal to take responsibility for internal damage raises significant questions about the company's commitment to honoring its warranties and being accountable for its work.
- Disputes and escalations: One review indicates that the customer is considering taking the matter to the Better Business Bureau and news outlets, highlighting the severity of the issues and the customers’ frustration with the lack of a resolution.

In conclusion, for locals in Pennsylvania seeking a roofing contractor, Murphy Roofing presents a profile with significant concerns that must be carefully considered. While the company has an established local presence in Philadelphia and offers a broad range of services, including roofing, gutters, and siding, the negative feedback from multiple customers is a critical factor. The recurring themes of unresolved leaks, poor workmanship, and a profound lack of communication and follow-up from the company's owner raise serious questions about their reliability and accountability. For homeowners, especially when dealing with high-cost and high-stakes projects like a roof, the ability to trust that a contractor will stand by their work and respond to issues is non-negotiable. The reported failure to address problems, even years after the initial service, makes Murphy Roofing a high-risk choice. The suitability of this company for locals is severely compromised by these documented issues. Therefore, it would be prudent for anyone in the region to exercise extreme caution and consider alternative contractors who have a demonstrably better track record of not just completing a job, but also providing consistent communication and reliable support after the project is finished.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1A roof over my front porch was installed 4 years ago. I’ve had a small leak for at least 3 years. The gutters have never worked. The owner was called right after the first rain. He stopped by on a dry day and said call me after it rains. I did notify several times but no follow up from the roofing company. Every time after a hard rain I’m angered at the poor gutter instillation. I was not aware of the leak but an insulation contractor noticed it and pointed out how mushy the drywall was under the gutter Here is a picture of the puddle still standing a day after the last hard rain. Aug 24, 2022 · Susan ShipleyDO NOT RECOMMEND!! After battling to get our roof completed, a year later a leak shows up by way of a hole in our child's ceiling... Bill Murphy (the "old man") showed up after multiple calls, sent someone out to come patch the roof but never assessed the internal damage or moisture it created in our ceiling. We both called multiple times and finally I got a response "Mr. Murphy says we aren't responsible for the internal damage and he will call you back". NEVER has he reached out to us concerning this matter, we are still left with a hole in our child's ceiling (possibly with mold from the moisture). If anyone else has had problems like this let me know as I will be taking this to the Better Business Bureau and all the News outlets to expose poor business practices.
Aug 05, 2023 · BearDO NOT USE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!!! We got our kitchen done in February 2023 and had no issues. In October, we were told by our insurance company that we needed a new roof. So we went with a neighborhood company with Murphy. After they replaced the roof, we started noticing a stain by a window. We notified them multiple times and they kept sending people, but the problem persisted. We started noticing a leak in the ceiling by the sink. We told them multiple times about the leak, they kept sending people but the problem persisted. The last weekend in December, we went to the office about the leak. An older man called someone, yelled at them and told them to come look at the roof. Someone came and we thought the problem was finally fixed. The first big rain we got 1/9/2024, we came home to a hole in the ceiling, water dripping, and the water ran all the way to the opposite wall. Now we will probably have to find someone to redo the roof and fix all the drywall because Murphy’s work is terrible. STAY AWAY!!!
Jan 10, 2024 · Chadd DavisMy experience with this company has been a great one thus far. So far, all requests were listened to and honored. Crew did a great job. Based on this, I would use them again. Before work was started, received itemized invoice for my authorization.Any unanticipated work was explained and received my authorization before work started (if I chose to have the new work done). Final invoice reflected updates.Crew was respectful of my neighbor’s property and mine too. Crew cleaned as they worked and at the end of each day.Notification was given when completion date needed to be changed.
Sep 24, 2021 · Bessie PeaksMy roof was leaking and in need of replacement. I contacted Murphy Roofing and Bill was able to come out quickly to inspect the roof and provide an estimate for a new roof. Shawn Murphy installed the roof and was helpful in answering all of my questions. I would recommend working with Murphy Roofing for your roofing needs.
