Roof Guard Introduce
For homeowners in Pennsylvania, a sturdy and reliable roof is a critical component of their property's protection. Given the state’s susceptibility to severe weather, from heavy rain and wind to snow and ice, finding a trustworthy roofing contractor is an important decision. This article provides a detailed and factual overview of Roof Guard, a local Philadelphia-based company. We will examine their services, location, and the varying experiences of their customers to help locals gain a complete understanding of what to expect. Our goal is to provide a balanced perspective, highlighting both the positive and negative aspects of their customer feedback, so you can make an informed choice for your next roofing project.
Roof Guard, led by owner Glen, operates within the competitive Philadelphia roofing market. Public reviews of the company present a mixed picture of their service quality and customer relations. On one hand, a customer who had a sudden gutter issue praised Glen for his quick response, professional recommendation, and efficient work. This positive experience highlights the company’s ability to act promptly and effectively on a smaller-scale, urgent repair. The customer was "extremely pleased with his work and would recommend Roof Guard to everyone," indicating a high level of satisfaction with that specific project. On the other hand, a detailed review from a different customer points to significant and prolonged issues with a new roof installation. This customer experienced a persistent gap in their roof, birds nesting in the shingles, and a loose shingle after a storm, which went unaddressed for two years despite "countless texts, emails and phone calls." Even after a partial response, the follow-up work was never completed, and the homeowner's existing gutter was damaged. This stark contrast in experiences suggests that while the company may be capable of delivering good service in some cases, there may be inconsistencies in their project management, follow-through, and communication.
Roof Guard is located at 4485 Richmond St, Philadelphia, PA 19137, USA. This central location in Philadelphia provides them with easy accessibility to serve residents throughout the city and its surrounding areas. Being a local contractor is a significant advantage, as it allows them to be on-site quickly for estimates and emergency repairs, which is particularly beneficial during and after a storm. The proximity of their base of operations on Richmond Street ensures that they are deeply familiar with the building codes, architectural styles, and common roofing issues specific to the Philadelphia region. This local knowledge is an asset that helps them tailor their services to the needs of the community.
However, as the customer feedback indicates, location and accessibility, while important, are not the only factors to consider. The ability to follow up on a project, address warranty issues, and maintain clear communication are equally crucial. A local presence ideally comes with a strong sense of accountability to the community, which is a key consideration for potential customers weighing their options.
Roof Guard offers services that address common roofing and exterior home needs. Their work includes both major installations and minor repairs, as evidenced by the customer reviews.
Services Offered:
- New Roof Installation: The company has experience installing both pitched shingle roofs and flat roofs, offering full replacement services for homeowners.
- Roof Repair: They handle repair jobs for various issues, including loose or missing shingles and other storm-related damage.
- Gutter Repair and Installation: Their services include addressing gutter problems, such as reattaching a fallen gutter or repairing damage.
- Estimates and Recommendations: As seen in a review, owner Glen provides on-site estimates and recommendations for necessary repairs.
The features and highlights of Roof Guard are best understood through the lens of their customer reviews. These points offer valuable insight into their strengths and potential weaknesses.
Features and Highlights:
- Responsiveness for Urgent Repairs: In one instance, the company was praised for their quick response to an unexpected gutter issue on a windy day, showing they can be reliable for immediate, smaller-scale problems.
- Professional Recommendations: The owner, Glen, was able to provide a clear recommendation over the phone, demonstrating his knowledge of roofing and exterior issues.
- Customer Satisfaction on Specific Jobs: A satisfied customer found their work to be excellent and would recommend them, which suggests that when a job goes well, the results are positive.
- Challenges with Long-Term Follow-Up: A major highlight from the negative review is a significant communication and follow-up issue that lasted for two years. This raises concerns about their warranty and commitment to resolving problems after the initial payment.
- Inconsistent Work Quality: The review from the dissatisfied customer mentioned unaddressed work and even new damage to their gutter, indicating potential inconsistencies in the quality and thoroughness of their work.
- BBB Reporting: A customer felt compelled to file a report with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), which points to a breakdown in their internal complaint resolution process.

In conclusion, Roof Guard is a Philadelphia-based roofing contractor whose suitability for local residents is dependent on a careful consideration of all available feedback. For locals in Pennsylvania, the company demonstrates the ability to be highly responsive and professional in certain situations, as evidenced by a positive review about a quick gutter repair. This may make them a viable option for straightforward, urgent tasks. However, the comprehensive and detailed negative review raises serious questions about their ability to handle and follow through on larger, long-term projects, and their commitment to resolving issues that arise after the initial job is done. The lack of communication and failure to correct a persistent problem, as reported by one customer, is a significant concern for any homeowner seeking peace of mind with their investment. Therefore, for a local resident considering Roof Guard, it would be prudent to ask specific questions about warranties, follow-up procedures, and to get a clear, detailed agreement in writing before any work begins.

Roof Guard Reviews
7:154Roof GuardPostBack in July 2020 I had estimates done for a newroof. We ended up going with Roofguard (Glen)All seemed good at first. Guys came out did myroof. We have a pitched shingle roof and a flatroof that were both done. Paid a good amount ofmoney! Well on the day they finished I calledGlenn right away and told him that the front of thehouse on the new roof had a gap and the guysworking put a piece of wood there to cover thegap. It looks horrible. Within a couple days birdsstarted going under the shingles and we're makingnests in the roof and my gutters. I called. TextedEmailed Glenn for the past two years. In that timethere was a bad storm that left one of our shingleshanging loose so I called and emailed him aboutthat also. That being said. After countless texts, emails and phone calls, AND a text letting himknow I was going on social Media to give a badreview Glen finally came to my house 2 years later(May 17, 2022). He fixed the hanging shingle andthen he left to pick up some supplies for the gutterand the gap in front, he came back to my housewith the supplies dropped them in my driveway, told my husband he would be back the next dayand he never returned. I again started texting him.Calling him. Emailing him. I have included allkinds of pictures. Not only did he not fix the gaphe dented my existing gutter so now it really looksbad and i STILL Have birds building nests underthe shingles. I sent him a ton of pictures and stillNO RESPONSE. The only thing I can do is makethis complaint. Keep calling them and I'll be filing a report with BBB
Jun 23, 2022 · Tricia Meehan-MetzTalked to the owner, Glen, when my gutter unexpectedly fell off of the house on an extremely windy day. He came out as soon as possible to survey the damage and was able to make his recommendation over the phone while I was at the work. Fortunately, I was off of work the next day and setup the repair date accordingly. Glen put up my gutter and noticed some issues with our shingles, in which we asked him to proceed with those repairs. The work was finished in less than an hour. We are extremely pleased with his work and would recommend Roof Guard to everyone.
Apr 26, 2017 · Marcella HudsonHere's my short story...After the strong winds last week, a large portion of my gutter (second story) became unhinged. I have a tri-plex with several tenants and was very concerned that it will fall and hurt someone. Now, I didn't notice this until the weekend at which point I called around to gutter/roofing companies to see if someone would come out and have a look. Unfortunately, all I got was answering services which only took my information. On Monday, I was expecting several calls, but nada. So the search started again, and I found Roof Guard on Home Adviser. I was surprised to get a call back in less than an hour. Ok, I'll jump to the end because this is getting long....Glen and his team got my gutter back up and secured the same day! What a breath of fresh air to work with a company that does what they say.If you want to work with a reliable and professional company, call Roof Guard!!!! I know it was a small job to them, but Roof Guard gave me peace of mind. Thank you.
Mar 07, 2017 · Dowmecia EdgertonI have used this Company for two jobs and referred lots of family members. There is one rubber roof job that repeatedly gave me problems and the crew kept coming back to "fix it," but to no avail. I am still trying to contact the Owner of the Company to have the matter resolved so I feel forced to now write a review as the invoice was paid in the upwards of thousands of dollars and I received no returned phone calls. The business voice mail is full so I am calling everyday during business hours and send text messages and received no response. I would not recommend this Company now for this reason.
Jan 09, 2019 · Faaizah DaughtryThe guys at Roof Gaurd are phenomenal. After several quotes from local and national companies, Roof Guard was the only company that I felt comfortable doing business with. Not only were they the best price, but the guys that work for this company are truly professionals in their fields and hold your hand through the quoting to finish process. Highly recommend Roof Gaurd.
