Roofing101 Introduce
When you live in Texas, you know that a sturdy, reliable roof is a non-negotiable. Our weather can be unpredictable and harsh, from sweltering heat that tests material durability to sudden storms with heavy winds and hail. Finding a roofing contractor you can trust is a crucial step in protecting your home and family. Roofing projects, whether big or small, are significant investments, and you want to partner with a company that is transparent, professional, and committed to doing the job right. Roofing101 is a name you might come across in your search for a local contractor in Austin, Texas. This article aims to provide a factual overview of the company, its services, and key considerations to help you make an informed decision for your home improvement needs.
Located in the heart of Austin, Roofing101 positions itself as a local provider for the community. The company handles various roofing-related tasks, from small repairs to full-scale replacements. As homeowners, we often have specific needs and budgets, and it is important to find a contractor who respects those parameters. Public information and customer feedback indicate that while the company offers a range of services, their approach to project scope and customer communication is an important aspect for potential clients to consider. Reading through reviews and understanding the experiences of previous customers can give you a clearer picture of what to expect from their team and sales process.
Roofing101 is situated in a convenient and well-known part of Austin, Texas, making it easily accessible for local residents. Their office is located at 2700 W Anderson Ln., Austin, TX 78757, USA. This central location in Austin allows the company to serve a wide area, from the immediate neighborhood to surrounding communities. Being based locally means they are familiar with the specific building codes, weather challenges, and common roofing issues that affect homes in the Texas region.
The W Anderson Lane address is a major thoroughfare in Austin, making it a simple location to find. This accessibility can be a benefit for scheduling appointments or if you need to visit the office for material samples or project discussions. The physical presence of a local office provides a point of contact and reinforces their position as a community-based business. For many homeowners, knowing a company is rooted in the local area is a significant factor in their decision-making process.
Based on publicly available information and typical contractor offerings, Roofing101 provides a variety of services for residential and commercial properties. These services are designed to address different needs, from minor issues to major overhauls.
Full Roof Replacement: This service is typically for roofs that have reached the end of their lifespan, have extensive storm damage, or are in need of a complete overhaul. They would likely offer options for various roofing materials, such as asphalt shingles, metal roofing, or tile, depending on the client's needs and budget.
Roof Repairs: This includes fixing leaks, replacing damaged shingles, and addressing issues caused by weather, age, or poor installation. Repair services are often sought for smaller, isolated problems that don't warrant a full roof replacement.
Fascia and Siding Work: A common area of home maintenance involves the fascia and siding, which protect the edges of the roof and the sides of the house. Reviews suggest that while this work may be requested, the company's willingness to perform smaller, more specific jobs may be contingent on their project scope requirements.
When choosing a contractor, it is essential to look at the unique features and highlights of their service. Public feedback often provides the most telling insights into a company's practices and customer experience.
Sales and Bidding Process: The company uses a sales team, including individuals like "Cody," to meet with potential clients and provide estimates. They appear to be willing to assess a range of work, from small repairs to full roof replacements. However, some customer accounts suggest a "bait-and-switch" approach where smaller jobs are used to upsell larger, more expensive projects.
Project Scope and Communication: Communication is a critical aspect of any home improvement project. Reviews indicate that there may be issues with responsiveness, as some customers report significant delays in receiving follow-ups. Furthermore, some feedback suggests that the company may decline smaller projects even after providing an estimate, raising questions about their project selection criteria and overall business integrity.
Customer Resolution: In cases where projects have been canceled or have not moved forward, the company's response, as described by a customer, can be perceived as dismissive. One customer review highlights a situation where a refund was requested and a report was filed with the Better Business Bureau, pointing to potential issues in project completion and customer satisfaction.

When it comes to selecting a roofing contractor in Texas, local homeowners have many factors to consider. The suitability of a company like Roofing101 depends heavily on a homeowner's specific needs and expectations. For those who are in the market for a large-scale project, such as a full roof replacement, and are willing to navigate a sales process that may prioritize larger jobs, Roofing101 could be a potential option.
However, for homeowners with smaller, more specific repair needs, public feedback indicates that the company may not be the best fit. The experiences shared by customers suggest that a homeowner's time may be wasted if their project is deemed too small. It is crucial for potential clients to have a clear and direct conversation about project scope and minimum requirements upfront. By doing so, you can better manage your expectations and determine if Roofing101's business model aligns with your home improvement goals. As with any significant home repair, thorough research and clear communication are key to a successful outcome.

With these guys I fell victim to the old "bait and switch."; I was very clear with my scope of work I was looking for on Home Advisor - replace rotting sections of roof fascia - simple, right? I set-up a meeting with a nice guy "Cody", and he comes over, looks around, we talk, and he agrees to give me an estimate on what I *actually* wanted done (the facia) but wanted to go ahead and provide estimates for other work that he recommended getting done. I said "OK, I'd take a look at it - but to be clear I definitely want to get the facia done." Cody said OK.The written estimate shows up a few days later with three options along with estimates: OPTION 1 - replace the entire entire roof for an extremely high-dollar amount, OPTION 2 - replace the entire roof for an expensive but more reasonable amount, and OPTION 3 - do the work I asked for. The estimate was very clear, all three were options and all three were presented as choices I could make. There was no dependency on doing, say OPTION 1, to have OPTION 3 be valid (this becomes important shortly). So I email back Cody saying I've considered the options, but want to just do the facia. When can we get started? A week goes by with no response. I send a follow-up email. Another week goes by. So I text Cody's boss, Dustin, indicating that I can't get Cody to respond. And Dustin responds...get this..."So it appears that you are curious if you can just do the facia without doing the roof?" Well, apparently Cody and Dustin are talking at least. But "curious?" Odd choice of words. So I turn right around and call Dustin. He says "the job is too small, we can't do it." I say "so this was just a bait-and-switch, huh?" "We can only do the facia if we do the roof as well" - says Dustin. "But we can put you in touch with some people who can do the facia." I told him I didn't trust him, and said "I wish you guys did business better. Thank you." and hung up.So to bottom-line it for you, these guys massively wasted my time. While my requirements were clear, they used the opportunity to try to sell me a Cadillac roof, knowing full-well that they would otherwise walk-away. They provided a clear proposal and estimate, and then walked away from it, They didn't HAVE to bid the project. They didn't HAVE to provide an estimate for it. They chose to do it, and to waste my time.So if you are looking for integrity - look somewhere else. Dustin and Cody don't have it, and neither does Roofing101.One thing I left out of the conversation I had with Dustin was that I said I'll go ahead and post a review on Home Advisor. He said "I encourage it!" Little did I know that Home Advisor doesn't publish reviews for companies where the work wasn't done. Dustin knows this, and feels pretty smug (I'm sure) about not having bad reviews on Home Advisor for this terrible behavior. Sad, truly sad.
