Sharp Roofing Introduce
Choosing a roofing contractor in Washington is a critical decision. The state's unique climate, characterized by relentless rainfall and the constant threat of moss and other organic growth, means a roof is a home’s first and most important line of defense. When a homeowner needs a new roof or a repair, they are looking for a company that is not only skilled and reliable but also transparent and committed to quality. This article provides a comprehensive overview of Sharp Roofing, a Seattle-based contractor, by presenting a balanced view based on a variety of customer experiences. This information is intended to help locals in Washington make a well-informed choice when considering this company for their roofing needs.
Sharp Roofing has a history in the Seattle area, with public information indicating a variety of customer experiences. Some customers have had positive interactions, praising the company's professionalism and knowledge. One review, for example, highlights "excellent customer service, consistently detail orientated and dynamic regarding the types of roofing services available." The same customer added that the team "has a lot of experience which shows," concluding that they would not "look any further" and highly recommending the company. This feedback suggests that, for some customers, the company has delivered on its promise of quality and professionalism. This positive experience points to a company that, at its best, is knowledgeable and provides excellent service.
However, the public record also contains a detailed and contrasting perspective from a customer who had a "terrible experience." This review outlines a series of significant issues, including a lack of supervision, poor communication after the work began, and a messy job site. The customer reported that the crew did not use a dumpster, instead piling trash on the sides of the house and leaving a small, full truck on the driveway. They also noted that materials, including plywood, were left exposed to rain and were still installed despite being wet and deformed. The customer also found that contract items, such as plywood clips, were not installed, and other critical elements like flashing and vent pipes were improperly handled or damaged.
The negative review also highlights a breakdown in communication and a difficult process for resolving issues. The customer had to inspect the work themselves and found multiple problems. They requested a discount but faced a long period of silence from the company's management. After a significant delay of two months and multiple phone calls, the customer received a new invoice with a discount, which they paid simply "to get these guys off my back." A subsequent post from the same customer noted a more severe, long-term issue after the fact: they discovered that a gas vent had been improperly installed, leading to mold in the attic. This is a serious concern that points to potential quality control and oversight issues, and the customer expressed frustration that the company that bought Sharp Roofing did not honor the warranty. This information suggests that while some customers have had good experiences, others have encountered significant challenges that can have long-lasting consequences.
Sharp Roofing is located at 10723 Exeter Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98125, USA. This address places them in the Northgate area of Seattle, making them geographically well-positioned to serve a wide swath of the city and its surrounding communities. Being a local contractor provides the company with a fundamental understanding of the specific building codes, architectural styles, and common roofing issues found throughout the Puget Sound region. For a local user, this can be an advantage, as the company should be familiar with the types of materials and solutions that perform best in Washington's wet and often moss-prone climate. However, the varied customer feedback indicates that a local presence alone does not guarantee a consistently positive experience, and it is crucial for a customer to be diligent in their oversight of the project from start to finish.
Based on both the positive and negative customer feedback, Sharp Roofing has offered a range of roofing and repair services.
-
Roof Replacement and Installation: They have experience installing various types of roofing systems, including composition, cedar shake, metal, and flat roofing membranes. The company has been noted for using different types of roofing services and a variety of materials, suggesting versatility in their offerings.
-
Roof Repairs: One positive review mentions a customer's satisfaction with a repair job. However, the negative review details several instances of improper repairs and installations, including issues with flashing and roof caps, which ultimately led to more serious problems like mold.
-
Skylight Installation: A customer review mentions that the company worked on skylights. The review notes that the skylights were not properly cleaned of stickers and that the drywall was damaged from the inside, which highlights potential issues with the care and attention to detail during installation.
-
Gutter and Insulation Services: Public data from other sources indicates that the company also has experience with gutters and insulation. These are often related services that a roofing contractor may offer to provide a more comprehensive exterior solution for a home.
The feedback for Sharp Roofing presents a mixed bag of features and highlights.
-
Positive Highlights: Some customers have experienced excellent customer service and appreciated the company's detailed and dynamic approach to roofing. The experience and knowledge of the team were also highlighted as a positive feature for some clients, who felt confident in their recommendations and services.
-
Questionable Quality and Rushed Work: A major point of concern is the inconsistent quality of the work and a perceived tendency to "cut corners." Issues like installing wet plywood, not using contract-specified clips, and improper installation of vents and flashing are significant red flags that could lead to long-term structural and health problems for a home.
-
Poor Site Management and Communication: The lack of a dumpster, a messy worksite, and the use of personal vehicles that leak oil are all issues that negatively impact a customer's experience. Additionally, the breakdown in communication after the work began, with unreturned calls and a manager who seemingly didn't communicate with the boss, created a stressful and frustrating situation for a customer trying to resolve major issues.
-
Supervisor Oversight: The lack of supervision on the job site is a major concern. A professional contractor should have a supervisor present to ensure quality and safety, and the fact that a customer had to perform their own inspection points to a serious lapse in project management.

For locals in the Washington region, especially in Seattle, it is important to be aware of the varied public information available for Sharp Roofing. The company has received both positive and highly negative reviews, which presents a complex picture for potential clients. While some customers have been very satisfied with their service, others have faced significant challenges related to the quality of the work, project management, and customer service after the project has started. The serious nature of some of the reported issues, such as improperly installed vents leading to mold, highlights the importance of thorough due diligence when selecting a contractor. The fact that the company may no longer be in business and its warranty is not honored by the new owner is a critical piece of information for any potential client. Therefore, while some aspects of the company may appear appealing, such as their experience and local presence, the serious concerns raised by other customers suggest that locals should proceed with extreme caution and consider all available information before hiring for a project that is so vital to the safety and longevity of their home.

Apr 12, 2025 · Kari WalkerSloppy Roofing. Not professional. Questionable quality for the money your pay. Do not hire these guys in a rainy season. They rush things, cut corners and do not take care of the material that gets exposed to the rain.* No supervision whatsoever* Do not return calls or reply to emails after works has been started* Only two guys worked on my roof. Sometimes it was just one worker. As the result the site gets messy. When I finally reached the manager, he promised that there will be at lest 3-4 guys on the roof. He lied. As the result it took them 2 weeks to complete (it rained couple days)* They do not use dumpster and instead try to load all the trash on a small old truck that does not fit everything. Expect piles of trash on the sides of you house and full truck that just sits on your driveway* Do not bother to cover materials that are on the ground. Plywood got wet and deformed, it was still installed on my roof* Did not install plywood clips that are in contract and Cliff talks about their importance on his blog (btw, two boxes of clips were on the site, they just ignored them)* Did not replace all the flushing and furnace roof pipe (+ they damaged it)* Master bathroom roof cap was cover with plywood (probably because one day they worked after 9pm in complete darkness) and duct buried in insulation.* Other bathroom vent duct was just placed under the roof cap and was not connected at all* When replacing skylights, they dId not bother to remove dirt and glue from the sticker on inside glass, and it is almost impossible to clean since it is very high. They also damaged drywall from inside.* Dumpster truck, van and worker's personal car leak oil. Watch out for your driveway!Luckily, they came back to address issues after I inspected the work myself (yes, prepare to get on the roof and attic since they do not have supervisor!). Unfortunately, they were not able to reconnect master bathroom or fix plywood clips problem.I asked for a discount, site manager told me they are working on updated invoice. After 4 weeks I got call from Cliff who was surprised they did not get paid yet. I am curious if manager even talks to his boss at all or I was just simply ignored. Next I got call from bill department. I tell them my story again. Silence for another two weeks. Finally, after 2 month I got new invoice with $1000k discount (7%) + apology from Cliff. Paid just to get these guys off my back.Terrible experience.——I am glad they out of business. Found they damaged and improperly installed gas’s vent. It was venting into the attic and now I have mold. These idiots cramped 6inch vent into 5inch vent with a hammer and couple crews. What a POS company. The company that bought them does not honor warranty
Oct 21, 2023 · Sergey ShlykovichI have used Sharp Roofing several times for my cedar shake roof. In every instant they have been response & professional. Their estimates are reasonable & they do not include unnecessary work, & their work is fabulous. I am also a real estate agent & I recommend them highly! Don’t call anyone else!
Jun 26, 2019 · Kimberly simmons-merinoIt has been a pleasure doing business with Sharp Roofing, a first rate company!I requested new roof quotes from many different companies and Cliff (and team) replied right away and offered great pricing!Everybody on the team was responsive, professional, helpful and they completed the job quickly and with quality work. They did a great job!We called them after the roof was installed with a follow up on the punch list. We made an unwarranted request and they came out right away to take fix the problem, even though they didn't cause it.What a great company to do business with and we look forward to doing business again next time we have roofing needs!I would highly recommend them to others... Thank you Sharp Roofing!!!
Nov 11, 2015 · Wendy MartinI was prepping to sell my home that had a 16 year old cedar shake roof and was given Sharp Roofing's information by my realtor. I was seeking an inspection to understand the state of the roof, whether there was any remaining life to it, and to verify no leaking had occurred. The owner of the company responded promptly to my inquiry and offered to come out and visit my home the same day and he provided a detailed report with images a few days after. A few weeks later at my request, Sharp was able to provide a roofing certificate to aid in our sale. I have been pleased by Sharp's responsiveness and level of detail. I'd happily use them again and recommend them.
