When it's time to address a roofing issue on your home in Pennsylvania, the decision of which contractor to hire is one of the most important choices you can make. Your roof is your home's primary defense against the elements, and a poorly executed job can lead to a host of expensive and frustrating problems down the line. Homeowners in the Pennsylvania region, from Ridley Park to beyond, rely on local contractors for everything from minor repairs to complete roof replacements. The following information is designed to help you navigate this critical decision-making process by providing a clear, engaging, and factual overview of what to consider when hiring a roofing contractor. We will focus on what to look for and what to be cautious of, using public data and real-world experiences to illustrate key points.
The importance of doing thorough research before committing to a contractor cannot be overstated. While some companies may promise a quick fix or a low price, the long-term consequences of shoddy workmanship can be severe. One customer’s experience highlights this reality. This individual was mandated by their home warranty company to use a specific contractor and ended up paying a significant amount to address two roof leaks. The experience was marked by an extended period of calling the company's main office and employees' cell numbers to get the work done. When one of the leaks was not resolved, the company proposed an additional expensive coating, which the customer refused. The work on a replaced gutter cap was also done improperly, requiring more calls and weeks of waiting for a "crummy" fix. Ultimately, after months of frustration, missed appointments, and missed days of work, both leaks were still active. This experience underscores the need to choose a company based on a strong, reliable reputation, not just on a referral from a third party.
Another customer's experience brings to light even more severe issues that can arise from poor workmanship. This individual hired a company for a complete roof replacement. The roof began leaking from day one, a problem that persisted for several years despite the contractor's multiple return visits. This ongoing issue led to leaks in newly installed windows and commentary from four different roofing companies about the "horrendous workmanship," including popping nails and shingles coming off. To make matters worse, it was discovered that the contractor had installed three layers of roofing, which is against township code, even though the application stated only one layer would be installed over the existing roof. The homeowner is now in the process of a costly and extensive project to tear off all three layers, replace damaged plywood and decorative wood, and potentially replace the new windows. This deeply concerning review serves as a powerful warning about the importance of verifying a contractor's reputation, checking for code compliance, and ensuring that their work is of the highest quality.
These examples, while concerning, offer valuable lessons for homeowners in Pennsylvania. They highlight the need to prioritize factors like a company's reliability, the quality of its work, its adherence to building codes, and its communication practices. A trustworthy contractor should be transparent about the work to be done, provide clear and honest communication, and be committed to resolving any issues that arise without additional, unexpected charges. The long-term cost of a poorly done job, in terms of both money and stress, far outweighs any perceived savings from a low-cost, low-quality service provider.
When you are searching for a roofing contractor, it's essential to look for a company that has a proven track record of professionalism and customer satisfaction. You should seek out contractors who are known for being punctual, completing their work efficiently, and maintaining a clean and safe worksite. A good company will have positive reviews that speak to their reliability and the durability of their work, not just their price point.
This article will provide an overview of what to consider when looking for a roofer, using publicly available information to guide your decision. We will outline the types of services to expect from a professional contractor, the key features that indicate a reliable company, and how to use contact information to get in touch with potential service providers. The goal is to empower you with the knowledge needed to make a choice that protects your home and provides peace of mind.
The experiences of these homeowners are a stark reminder that a home improvement project can become a nightmare without proper vetting. The stress of dealing with persistent leaks, shoddy repairs, and non-compliant work is something no one should have to endure. Therefore, a proactive approach—doing your due diligence, asking for references, and reading detailed reviews—is the best way to ensure your roofing project is a success.
---The company in question is located at 405 W Chester Pike, Ridley Park, PA 19078, USA. Its physical location in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, places it within a populated area and makes it accessible to residents throughout Delaware County and the surrounding regions. This accessibility is a common feature of many local businesses that serve the Pennsylvania community. When evaluating a contractor, it is always helpful to know their local presence and service area to ensure they can provide timely service for your needs.
For any homeowner in the area, a contractor's location can be a key factor in their responsiveness. Proximity can be a benefit for scheduling appointments and for dealing with emergency situations. However, as the provided customer experiences show, location alone is not a guarantee of prompt or reliable service. Punctuality and clear communication from the contractor's team are far more important indicators of a company's professionalism.
When considering a company, it’s worth noting their address and phone number to verify their local presence. The contact information for the company in question is: (610) 356-8622. Knowing a company's local contact details is a starting point for your inquiry, but the quality of the service you receive will depend heavily on the internal processes and professionalism of the business itself.

---When choosing a roofing contractor in Pennsylvania, it is essential for locals to be vigilant and informed. The stories provided serve as a cautionary tale, highlighting that the cheapest or most convenient option is not always the best. The long-term costs of a poorly done job, including ongoing repairs, property damage, and the need for a full re-do, far outweigh any initial savings. The experiences shared by these homeowners demonstrate the critical importance of a contractor’s workmanship, reliability, and adherence to building codes.
For any homeowner, it is crucial to seek out a company with a strong reputation for quality work and ethical practices. This includes looking for a contractor who is transparent about their pricing, provides a clear and detailed contract, and communicates effectively throughout the project. It is also wise to check for multiple reviews and references, not just the ones provided by the company, to get a complete picture of their track record. Verifying that a company is properly licensed and insured is also a non-negotiable step to protect yourself from liability.
In conclusion, a good contractor is an investment in your home's security and value. The experiences detailed here should encourage every homeowner in the Pennsylvania region to take their time, do their research, and choose a service provider who can be trusted to deliver high-quality, code-compliant, and durable work. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My home warranty company told me I had to use top notch for them to cover any of the charges, otherwise I would I have never used them. They charged me $1000 to fix 2 roof leaks. It took weeks of calling their office and employees’ cell numbers to finally get them to do the work. When one of the leaks was not immediately better he said he can do a coating that would cost another $1000. I refused to pay them another $1000 to fix the problem I hired them for. Plus the gutter cap they replaced for me was not done properly. It took several phone calls and weeks to get them to fix that mistake and they did a really crummy job of fixing that. And just to add insult to injury, they rarely shows up on time. I’ve waited hours to days for top notch workers to show up to my house for appointments we set a week in advance. So $1000, several months later, and several missed days of work and both leaks are still leaking.
Jun 11, 2018 · Margalit HaberNO STARS... Complete roofing job - Roof has been leaking since day 1; it has been several years. Top Notch guys have been back at least 6 times, still leaks. Now some of my new windows leak too.4 different roofing companies have commented on the horrendous workmanship; popping nails, shingles coming off, etc.Did I mention that I now have 3 layers of roofing?? Township application was completed stating that he (David Shaw), would be going over 1 roof only. So it's against code.I am currently in the process of replacing EVERYTHING. Tearing off 3 layers of roof, replacing all the damaged plywood and decorative wood on the underside.I won't know if the windows need to be replaced until they tear off the layers, and assess the scope of the damage.Stay tuned... as I will be pursuing this through all available outlets. This review is just the start.
Apr 10, 2018 · Stephanie BHired Top Notch Roofing in April 2018. Proposal for the entire project was $4,400. Upon removal of the old roof, they discovered that the substructure around the skylight was severely damaged. I had existing water damage in the bathroom so it was no surprise. After an estimate for an additional $2,800, I agreed and they proceeded to replace the damaged area. It included 20 sheets of plywood. The job was completed within three days. It was an enormous undertaking. All materials were high quality and workmanship was thorough and professional. All in all, I'm very pleased with the job. Roof replacement is a big undertaking and you get what you pay for. I'd recommend Top Notch Roofing. I wasn't thrilled with spending $7,000.00 for a roof, but it's the most important component in my home, so it's well worth it in the long run.
Jun 27, 2018 · Brian PontecorvoI didn't know that roofing companies specialized in customer service. Top Notch roofing sent out 2 roofers at 4:45pm to look at a leak that I had. They couldn't have sent 2 better guys to the house, although it was the end of a hot day, both roofers couldn't have been friendlier. Top Notch Roofing should be very proud to have guys like Dave and Dan working for them. Top Notch will now be my only call for services that they supply.
Jul 10, 2018 · Wayne KofrothTop Notch replaced the drain box and down spout on my rental property. Within 1 year the downspout came off (they never secured it to the house) and they wanted to charge me $275.00 to put it back up. My GC did it for $65.00. Then the roof started leaking in the same place. I called, texted and emailed for over 2 weeks before they finally got back to me. They went out and said it was where the shingles meet the flat roof that was leaking. They patched it at no charge, well, it's still leaking where the original leak is. I have sever water damage in the bathroom and living room...again! I have spoken to them a few times with promises to go out to look at it but that has yet to happen and now they just aren't responding at all - time to find a new roofer. As a licensed Real Estate agent I will spread the word to my fellow sales associates.
