Apex Roofing Introduce
Choosing a roofing contractor in the Washington region is a significant decision for any homeowner. A roof is a home’s primary defense against the Pacific Northwest’s weather, and a quality installation is crucial for long-term protection and peace of mind. Apex Roofing, located in Federal Way, is one of the local companies serving this need. This article provides an overview of the company, its services, and the experiences of its customers, offering valuable insights for anyone considering a roofing project.
Apex Roofing offers a variety of residential roofing services, specializing in roof replacement. The company is based in Federal Way, making it a local option for residents in King and Pierce counties. A local presence can be a significant advantage, as it often means the company is more familiar with regional building codes, specific weather challenges, and the architectural styles common in the area. This local expertise can be a key factor in ensuring a project is completed successfully and to a high standard.
A company's reputation is often best understood through the firsthand accounts of its customers. Based on available public reviews, the experiences with Apex Roofing have been varied, ranging from highly positive to significantly negative. This mixed feedback highlights the importance of thorough communication and clear, detailed contracts throughout the home improvement process.
On one hand, a customer who had their 30-plus-year-old cedar shake roof replaced with a composite roof had a very positive experience. The customer praised Nikko, the representative, for "always communicating the plan and process along the way." The crew was described as "punctual, professional, and incredibly detail-oriented," with a focus on protecting landscaping and performing a thorough cleanup each day. This review speaks to the high quality of the final product, with the customer noting that the craftsmanship was "outstanding" and that they now have "peace of mind knowing it will last for decades to come." This account presents Apex Roofing as a company that delivers top-tier service and results.
The positive reviews also highlight the efforts of some individual employees. Another customer left a glowing five-star review for the sales representative, Justin. This customer noted that Justin was "extremely friendly and not pushy at all," and went "out of his way" to meet on a Sunday to review the contract. This level of personalized service and commitment to the customer's timeline is a key factor in building trust and a positive initial experience. The customer’s statement that "Apex is lucky to have Justin as a sales rep" underscores the value that a great employee can bring to a company's reputation.
However, other customer experiences have been less positive. A different review, which was an update to a prior five-star rating, detailed a number of issues that arose after the initial agreement was made. The customer, who had a contract for a roof replacement that included cleaning the gutters and fascia boards, was surprised on the day of installation with a call from Francisco, a representative from Apex, stating that new gutters were needed. This last-minute discovery, which was not mentioned during the company's initial "thorough inspection and measurements," added a significant and unexpected cost to the project. The customer felt they were put "over a barrel," as their old gutters had already been torn down, and ended up agreeing to an additional cost that was about 30% of the total project price after negotiation.
The problems did not end there. The customer also reported that the fascia boards, which were agreed to be cleaned in the contract, were left dirty and put back on with the primed side showing. Exposed edges were left where boards had been cut. The customer's attempt to get a credit for the painting needed to fix these issues was denied, with the company's representative stating that the area was a "construction zone" and the cleaning agreement "didn't matter." This experience highlights a significant breakdown in communication and a failure to honor a contractual agreement, leading the customer to conclude they "would not recommend APEX if you need a new roof."
These contrasting experiences with Apex Roofing underscore the importance of due diligence for anyone in the Washington region considering them for a project. While the company appears to have some excellent personnel who provide high-quality service, other aspects of the business, such as communication regarding unexpected costs and adherence to contract details, have been a source of frustration for some clients. For potential customers, it is vital to have every detail of a project, including any potential for unexpected costs, clearly outlined in a written contract and to ensure that all parties are in agreement before work begins.
Ultimately, selecting a contractor is a balance of trust, communication, and a clear understanding of the project's scope. The reviews suggest that Apex Roofing has the potential to deliver high-quality results, but some customers have faced significant challenges with unexpected costs and contract adherence. For locals, this information serves as a reminder to be proactive in managing the project and ensuring all agreements are in writing and fully understood by all parties.

- Gutter Installation
Apex Roofing’s gutter installation services are designed to protect your home from water damage. Our reliable team ensures your gutters are installed with care and efficiency, providing excellent drainage.
- Seamless Gutters
In a seamless gutter system, an installer will use a unique machine on-site to form long stretches of gutter that will run the length of the roof-line without a seam. The result of no seams is that fewer places will leak and malfunction.
- Sectional Gutters
In a sectional gutter system, individual gutter sections are installed along the roof-line and connected with seams or joints. Although these gutters are still effective at channeling water away from your home, they have the potential for more leaks and malfunctions compared to seamless gutters.

Apr 26, 2025 · Julie SumerallYhis is an update to a prior 5-star review we had left for APEX Roofing. The review relating to our sales rep, Justin stands. He was great his 5-star review below stands. The change from a 5 star to 1 star is because of incidents that occurred after roof was installed. To begin, APEX did a thorough inspection and measurements of our roof. After their team looked at roof, they then did full measurements of the roof and they provided our first bid. We went back and forth just a bit and came to an agreement on roof replacement pricing. We also added to the agreement that the gutters be cleaned inside and out and facia boards be wiped down and cleaned, as there were black streaks running down them from dirt overflow. They agreed to this and we put it in writing in final agreement.Well the morning of roofing installation, as they were tearing away old roofing, I received a call from Francisco at APEX Roofing who told me we need new gutters. Not only was I shocked as they did a complete pre-site roof inspection when they did their measurements for new roofing. I asked why they did not tell me about this before. He told me “it was like when you remodel a house and you discover you have old Knob-and-tube electrical wiring and it needs replaced. Well I was still in shock as when I asked about the gutter pricing it added 40% to the cost of the roof job. Not knowing what to say since I was shocked and was in a position where there was really one answer as whether to proceed with new gutters, I asked about pricing. That’s when I found out gutters would add about 40% more to the overall cost. Since he had me basically over a barrel, I negotiated and got the price down somewhat to where this “surprise” cost was 30% of the cost of project. This whole project after after the phone rang to tell me “surprise you’re roofing replacement is going to cost 40% more than quoted went south from there. After the roofers had completed replacing the roof and tearing down most of the old gutters, I noticed that the facia boards were dirty, put back on with primed side showing and where for some reason they had to cut boards, they left exposed edges.I called Francisco about the facia boards and how not only they agreed in the contract to clean facia boards, but the other issues mentioned above as well. I told him the reason I wanted this corrected was that not only was it in contract, but it was put there because we just painted the whole house just under a couple years ago.I asked him for credit so that we could have our painter come out and repaint the boards that needed it. Francisco said no they cannot. He said the boards were part of a construction zone and this is why they were put back on the house the way they were. Plus added that it was in contract to clean but that didn’t matter in his decision apparently. We still have to have the new gutters installed in a couple weeks but I would not recommend APEX if you need a new roof. The facia board pictures are attached to show how sloppy and dirty they were left. The least they could have done to live up to contract was to provide me with a $3,000 credit to have the repainting now needed done.**********************************Justin was great. He explained our available roofing options and the installation process. Extremely friendly and not pushy at all. When we did decide to purchase new roofing, Justin went out of his way to visit us on Super Bowl Sunday just before his and our SB parties to review our needs and sign our new roofing contract. He was able to schedule roof installation on our timeline. Apex is lucky to Justin as a sales rep.
Mar 31, 2025 · WSK LingestteI just had my roof and shop roofed by Apex Roofing. Rick and his crew arrived about 20 minutes early and got to work setting up all rheir equipment and then began tearing off both layers of my old roof and began working on the new roof. I was amazed at what it takes today to install a new roof. The crew stayed until 7. Rick came back that evening to help me take care of a split board in my attic. This was after he had gone home for dinner. He also was ae to find endcaps for my gutters and he put them on. How many companies have people who work for them that would do that? Very few. I am completely satisfied with the roof and the workmanship from Alex Roofing and highly recommended them for any and all roofing projects.
Jul 23, 2025 · Donald HutchNikko was my contact person. He was very knowledgeable about all the products and he offered his opinion but never tried to force one off short or another on me. Even though they were not the lowest bid, I got three bids, I really felt Nikko was honest and the company reputable.I had a deadline to meet or I was going to lose my new homeowners insurance and Nikko fit me in their schedule and made it happen for me before the deadline. He also provided the photos that I needed to send to my insurance company. Apex also provided the gutter installer.Their office staff that provided me with the invoice and also the information to register the warranty with Owens Corning, made things very easy for me. Apex Roofing made paying them very simple by just clicking on a link within the invoice and I was able to pay via ACHMy new roof and gutters look fabulous! I'm truly impressed with Apex Roofing and all of their staff. Very professional and honest
Dec 10, 2024 · Harumi TolbertGlib was my main point of contact, and I really appreciated how professional and straightforward he was. He walked me through the estimate, explained the timeline, and didn’t try to push anything extra. It wasn’t a flashy pitch, just honest information and a reasonable price. That alone set Apex apart.
