Total Home Roofing

Roofing contractor ★4.0

710 Oakfield Dr Suite #175, Brandon, FL 33511, USA

4.0
Absolutely steer clear from this company! Poor craftsmanship and no customer service. They covered this up with a gutter. All the wood is rotted. I know they saw it because they put a new piece of decking on top of the rotting wood. I would have paid to have it fixed then. Now I have to pay someone even more to fix everything. They also didn’t reinstall a vent for the exhaust fans. They left the pipes laying in the attic. A hole in the decking covered by shingles. - Andy

Services Offered

Total Home Roofing typically offers a range of services that address common residential and potentially commercial roofing needs. While specific details beyond installations and repairs are not provided in the reviews, a general roofing contractor of this nature usually provides the following core services:

  • Roof Installations: Professional installation of new roofing systems for new constructions or properties requiring a complete re-roof. This often includes various types of roofing materials to suit different aesthetic and durability needs.
  • Roof Replacements: Comprehensive services for removing old, worn-out, or damaged roofing and installing a brand-new, durable system. This is crucial for homes that have reached the end of their roof's lifespan or suffered significant irreparable damage.
  • Roof Repair Services: Addressing specific issues such as leaks, missing shingles, storm damage, and other localized problems to extend the life of an existing roof and prevent further water intrusion or structural issues.
  • Roof Inspections: Performing assessments of a roof's condition to identify existing problems, potential weaknesses, and areas requiring maintenance or repair. These inspections are vital for proactive property management.
  • Addressing Ventilation Issues: Ensuring proper attic ventilation, which is crucial for prolonging roof life and maintaining energy efficiency in Florida's warm climate. This often involves the correct installation or reinstallation of exhaust fans and vents.
  • Dealing with Rotting Wood: Repairing or replacing damaged wood decking and structural components beneath the roofing material, which is particularly important in humid climates where rot can be a significant issue.
  • Gutter Integration: Considering how roofing installations interact with existing or new gutter systems, as gutters are integral to effective water management around a home.

Features / Highlights

Total Home Roofing has received feedback that highlights both positive and negative aspects of their operations. This provides a mixed perspective on their features and client experiences.

  • Dedicated Sales and Support Teams (Positive): One review praises the entire team, including the "salesman, supervisor, installation crew, and the payment advisor," indicating a structured approach with various departments focused on the client journey.
  • Professional Team (Positive): A positive testimonial describes the team as "experienced and professional," suggesting a well-trained and capable workforce.
  • Commitment of Installation Crew (Positive): The installation crew is commended for their dedication, working long hours ("came early and left late") even in extreme heat (over 110 degrees heat index), demonstrating a strong work ethic.
  • Quality of New Roof Installation (Positive): One customer describes their new roof as "impeccable," indicating high satisfaction with the aesthetic and quality of the finished product.
  • Poor Craftsmanship / Hidden Issues (Negative): A significant negative highlight points to "poor craftsmanship" and deliberate concealment of issues. Specifically, allegations include covering rotted wood with new decking and a gutter, and leaving an unreinstalled exhaust fan pipe in the attic, with a hole in the decking covered by shingles. This suggests potential issues with quality control and integrity.
  • Lack of Customer Service / Responsibility (Negative): The negative review heavily criticizes their "no customer service" when problems arose. The company allegedly tried to charge the customer to fix their own mistakes, with a representative reportedly stating, "that’s how roofing works," indicating a potential lack of accountability for issues with their work.

It is important for potential customers to weigh these contrasting experiences carefully when considering Total Home Roofing for their projects. The positive review highlights aspects of professionalism and dedication, while the negative review raises serious concerns about quality control, transparency, and post-service accountability.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For Floridians, especially those in Brandon and the surrounding Hillsborough County area, selecting a roofing contractor who understands the state's unique and demanding climate is paramount. The extreme heat, heavy rainfall, and hurricane season necessitate roofing solutions that are both durable and expertly installed. Total Home Roofing, with its local presence in Brandon, aims to provide comprehensive roofing services to meet these needs.

The positive feedback highlights that Total Home Roofing has the capacity to deliver an "impeccable" new roof, thanks to an "experienced and professional team" that is dedicated to working hard even under challenging conditions like extreme heat. This dedication to completing projects with high visual quality and a strong work ethic is certainly appealing to locals seeking a beautiful and seemingly sturdy roof. Their structured approach, with various team members from sales to installation and payment advisors, suggests a well-organized company aiming for a managed customer journey.

However, it is crucial for potential local clients to be aware of and carefully consider the contrasting negative experience. Allegations of poor craftsmanship, intentionally covering up pre-existing rot, and a lack of accountability when issues arise are serious concerns. In a state where roofs are under constant environmental stress, the integrity of the underlying structure and the quality of installation are non-negotiable. If a roof system fails prematurely or hides defects, the long-term financial and structural implications for a Florida homeowner can be severe.

Therefore, while Total Home Roofing may offer dedicated crews and beautiful finished products as per some reviews, it is strongly recommended that Floridians considering their services engage in thorough due diligence. This should include detailed discussions about the inspection process for underlying wood, explicit clarity on warranties for both materials and labor, and firm agreements on how any future issues or alleged defects will be handled. For locals, ensuring transparency and accountability from their roofing contractor is as vital as the quality of the roof itself, particularly given Florida’s challenging weather. By taking these precautions, residents can strive for a positive outcome when investing in their home's most critical protective layer.
