Weather Guard Roofing

Roofing contractor ★1.0

I had a similar experience from Paul. Franco stood me up 5 times then slapped the same sealer on my residential chimney and it looks awful. I had a leak around the flashing. He soaked me for 2800 for a 500$ job and promised he would give me money back. I am not holding my breath but considering small claims court. He is a professional scammer. Excuses range from “ my wife is having open heart surgery, James was up all night while his daughter is giving birth, now he is in the hospital?? Unlikely. I never got a guarantee in writing. He offered me a 7 year guarantee but never gave me anything. I had another roofer come out and he was appalled by the shoddy work and would not touch the chimney. Still waiting to hear from him. Do not under any circumstances hire this man. He is a horrible human. - Judith Leclerc, DVM

Weather Guard Roofing Introduce

For homeowners in Massachusetts, especially in a city as historic and vibrant as Boston, the need for a reliable and trustworthy roofing contractor is paramount. The extreme weather conditions of New England, from freezing winters to intense rainstorms, can take a significant toll on a roof. When a leak appears or a repair is needed, finding a professional who is skilled, dependable, and honest is a top priority. In an industry where reputations are built on trust and quality, it is essential for homeowners to conduct thorough research before committing to a contractor. This article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of Weather Guard Roofing, a company with a Boston, MA address, to help local residents make an informed decision based on available public data and customer feedback.

The provided information indicates that Weather Guard Roofing operates from a Boston address and serves the local community. The company's name itself suggests a focus on protecting properties from the elements, which is a highly relevant promise for homeowners in Massachusetts. When searching for a contractor, many people look for businesses that are knowledgeable about the specific challenges of the regional climate, such as preventing ice dams or handling storm damage. A company with a local presence often brings this essential expertise, understanding the common types of roofing materials used in the area and the particular building codes that must be followed.

However, a crucial part of vetting any contractor is examining customer reviews and testimonials. The provided reviews for Weather Guard Roofing offer a mixed and, at times, concerning perspective. While one review initially praises a quick response and reasonable cost, subsequent experiences from the same customer and another paint a picture of unfulfilled promises, shoddy workmanship, and a complete breakdown in communication. The reviews mention a representative named James Franco, who is described as responsive in the beginning but then allegedly becomes unreliable, failing to show up for appointments and not returning phone calls.

The reviews mention a variety of issues, including a leak that was not properly fixed, the application of an unsightly tar-like substance on shingles, and a purported "bogus warranty" that was paid for but never delivered in writing. The anecdotes about excuses for no-shows, such as a wife having "open heart surgery," are particularly troubling and point to a potential lack of professionalism and ethical conduct. One customer claims they were "slapped" with a temporary repair on a chimney that looked "awful" and was overcharged for a job that was worth a fraction of the cost. The customer further states that another roofer was "appalled by the shoddy work and would not touch the chimney," which is a serious red flag about the quality of the repairs.

These accounts from real customers are a vital part of the research process for any local resident. They highlight the importance of not only a contractor's initial promise and price but also their follow-through, the quality of their work, and their communication skills. The repeated complaints about unreturned calls and a lack of accountability after a problem arises suggest a potential pattern of behavior that any prospective customer should be aware of. In the home improvement industry, where issues can arise even with the best-laid plans, a contractor's willingness to stand behind their work and address problems is a defining characteristic of a reputable business.

For homeowners in Massachusetts, a roofing project is a significant investment, and the decision to hire a contractor should be made with as much information as possible. The provided reviews suggest that while a contractor might appear responsive and knowledgeable at first, it is crucial to ensure all agreements, especially warranties, are in writing and that the company has a consistent track record of good service and reliable communication. The following sections will present the factual information about Weather Guard Roofing's location and contact details, along with a summary of the services they claim to offer, and a conclusion based on the available data.

Location and Accessibility

Weather Guard Roofing is located at 361 Newbury St 5th floor, Boston, MA 02115, USA. This address places the company in a prominent and central part of Boston's Back Bay neighborhood. While this may be an office location, it provides a physical presence within the city, which can be a point of reference for local clients. A central location like this offers accessibility to a wide range of communities within the Greater Boston area, making it geographically convenient for residents in surrounding towns and neighborhoods.

Being based in Boston means that a contractor should be familiar with the local permitting requirements, historical preservation guidelines, and building codes. For homeowners, this local understanding is often a key factor in choosing a contractor, as it ensures that the work will be done in compliance with all regulations. However, based on the provided reviews, potential customers should take care to verify that these standards are met in practice.

Services Offered

Based on the nature of the business and the provided customer reviews, Weather Guard Roofing appears to offer a range of services typically associated with a residential roofing contractor. These services would generally include:

  • Roof Replacements: The company appears to engage in full roof replacements, as a customer mentioned a 15-year warranty on the entire roof, suggesting they handle large-scale projects.

  • Roofing Inspections: A professional roofing company would typically offer to diagnose problems, as the reviews suggest was done by a representative named James Franco.

  • Warranty Programs: As mentioned in one of the reviews, the company offered a 15-year warranty on a roof, though the execution and delivery of this warranty were reportedly problematic.

Based on the provided information, including the highly critical customer reviews, it is not possible to recommend Weather Guard Roofing as a suitable choice for local homeowners in Massachusetts. The reviews raise significant concerns about the quality of workmanship, the reliability of the company's representatives, and the integrity of their business practices, particularly regarding warranties and communication. For any homeowner in Massachusetts, the decision to hire a roofing contractor requires a high degree of trust. The available evidence suggests that this trust may be misplaced with this particular company. The anecdotes of unreturned calls, broken promises, and alleged "shoddy work" are serious issues that should not be taken lightly. It is crucial for locals to seek out contractors with a consistently positive and verifiable track record of delivering on their commitments, providing high-quality work, and maintaining open and honest communication throughout the entire process.
