Ohio Roofing and Siding Introduce
When a homeowner in Ohio decides to undertake a significant project like a roof or siding replacement, they are making a major investment in their property. Finding a contractor with a solid reputation, a history of quality work, and a commitment to standing by their promises is paramount. Ohio Roofing and Siding, a local business with a long history in Toledo, presents itself as a family-owned company with a deep-rooted presence in the community since 1931. While public data and reviews show a history of satisfied customers and a long-standing business, more recent feedback brings to light some serious concerns, particularly regarding warranty service and workmanship. This article will provide a balanced overview of Ohio Roofing and Siding, combining both the positive aspects of its history and the critical feedback from recent customers to help locals make a well-informed decision.
Ohio Roofing and Siding has a history that is tied to the Fox family, who have owned and operated the business for generations. The company's public profile highlights a commitment to providing quality workmanship and a high level of customer satisfaction. Their long-standing presence in the Toledo and Northwest Ohio area, and their claim of not using subcontractors, are significant points that they use to build trust with potential clients. They have, in the past, been praised for being efficient, organized, and providing a thorough cleanup. However, some recent customer reviews have brought forth a different perspective, suggesting that the company’s ability to uphold its warranty commitments and provide timely repair services may have changed in recent years, particularly since the retirement of key personnel like Joe Fox. These contrasting views are important for any local resident to consider, as they highlight the difference between a company's historical reputation and its current service delivery.
Ohio Roofing and Siding is located at 30 N Westwood Ave, Toledo, OH 43607, USA. This central location in Toledo places them within easy reach of residents throughout the city and the surrounding areas in Ohio. A physical address that has been in use since 1966 provides a sense of stability and permanence, which is often a positive signal for a contractor. The company's long history in the community means they are familiar with local building codes, architectural styles, and the specific weather-related challenges that can impact roofs in the region. For residents in need of a new roof or siding, their accessibility in Toledo makes it convenient to visit their modern showroom and office to discuss project details and view product samples.
The company's local presence also means they have a vested interest in maintaining a good reputation within the community, as their customers are their neighbors. However, the importance of this local presence is tempered by recent reviews that describe a lack of responsiveness, raising questions about whether this local-first approach is still a cornerstone of their customer service. The accessibility of the location is a key feature, but for customers seeking warranty service, the ability to get a timely and effective response may be more critical than the physical location of the office.
Ohio Roofing and Siding offers a variety of services, positioning themselves as a comprehensive home improvement company focused on exterior work.
- Roofing Installation and Repair: They provide services for both new roof installations and repairs. Their work includes using various materials and ensuring the job is done to a high standard, though recent reviews have questioned the long-term quality of this work.
- Siding Services: In addition to roofing, they specialize in siding installation and replacement. This allows them to offer a full exterior solution for homeowners looking to improve their home's curb appeal and protection.
- Windows and Doors: Public information indicates that the company also offers the installation of replacement windows and doors, further solidifying their role as a full-service home exterior contractor.
- Gutter Services: They provide services for gutter installation and repair, a crucial component for proper water management and protecting a home's foundation.
- Porch Enclosures and Awnings: The company's history shows they also have experience with more specialized services like customized porch enclosures and awnings, showcasing a breadth of expertise.
The features and highlights of Ohio Roofing and Siding are a mix of historical strengths and current challenges as seen through customer feedback.
- Long-Standing Local Business: A significant highlight is their long history, having been a part of the Toledo community since 1931. This generational family business tradition is often seen as a sign of reliability and experience.
- Internal Workforce: The company's claim of not using subcontractors is a key feature, as it suggests a consistent standard of quality and direct accountability for their work.
- Positive Historical Reviews: Many older reviews praise the company for its efficiency, quality of materials, and meticulous cleanup, with one review highlighting that the yard was left "spotless" and without a single nail.
- Warranty Concerns: A significant point of concern, highlighted in recent reviews, is the company's alleged failure to honor its warranty. One customer mentioned having a 10-year warranty on a 7-year-old roof that was leaking, but could not get a timely response or a free repair, despite the warranty.
- Workmanship and Repair Issues: Another recent review, which included a photo, alleges that a roof installed in 2019 was already failing by 2025. This raises serious questions about the current quality of their workmanship and their inspection process.

For locals in the Ohio region, particularly those in and around Toledo, Ohio Roofing and Siding presents a complex picture. The company's decades-long history and reputation as a family-owned business with a professional, non-subcontracted crew have historically made it a reputable choice. However, recent and highly critical customer reviews paint a troubling picture of a decline in service, particularly concerning their responsiveness to warranty claims and the quality of their long-term work. While the company may still be a viable option for new projects, a local resident must carefully weigh the positive historical reputation against the recent concerns about their ability to stand by their work and honor their warranty commitments. For any homeowner considering this company, it would be prudent to ask for recent references and get a clear, written understanding of the warranty and repair process to ensure that their investment is protected for years to come, especially given the documented frustrations of some current customers.

Apr 02, 2025 · Keith AbankwahI've called 2 times. I have a 10.year warranty on my roof according to Ohio roofing. My roof is 7 years old and leaking into my kitchen. I was first told that they did not have enough repair personnel to address my problem but they would get back to me.I was never called. I called again 3 weeks later and was told Ohio roofing would have to charge me for caulking and materials when they come. It was on a Friday and said the repair person was not working but she would have him call me. 2 weeks later, no return call. I am frustrated and disappointed. Joe Fox was my initial contact in 2015 and he was responsible. He has now since retired. I have an alleged warranty for 10 years. I cannot recommend Ohio Roofing to anyone
Apr 26, 2023 · Suan HermanCame to make an estimate to repair a patio that their company installed because a tree fell on it. Told me they would have to replace the whole thing. Fine, insurance will cover it, just send me an estimate. After many phone calls to this company and them assuring me that they would get back to me the next day. Literally months later, they never sent me anything or called me back. I called them every week for a while, and still never got an answer beyond "we're really busy, we'll get you that info tomorrow definitely!" I went with another company who actually values having customers. I recommend everyone else does the same.
Nov 06, 2023 · Art KazmiI recently had massive hail damage in the recent tornado that touched down in the Point Place area. All the homes in the shoreland side of the Ottowa river seem to have been affected after that event. Having excellent roof work done by Ohio Roofing and siding in 2005, I looked no further for a contractor. John Fox immediately came to my aid on request for a quote. His rates are reasonable and the work is expedient and professional. They are also quick to remedy any potential complaints. After I signed the contract, these guys were the first to service my home as the first one worked on in my neighborhood. A new roof and siding on two sides of my residence were finished in less than a week. I am tickled with the outcome. I urge anyone who needs roofing and siding to contact thdese guys.
Jul 18, 2023 · David KowalskiDon't waste your time with company. I called end of June 2023 was told they were extremely busy and would call me back. Never got a call back. Called a few weeks later to find out whoever took my information wrote down the wrong number. Lady on phone implied my business was not valued since it was a small repair job, refused to have company come out and do own estimate. Originally estimate by my insurance was inaccurate and did not report all the damage to my roof. Customer service told me to email my claim # so I did. When I called to see if email was received was told they wanted claim and she tried to make me feel stupid even though she was not clear on instructions. Another 10 days have gone by again, no response from this company. Building a house in 3 years, you will not get my business.
