When a roofing project is on the horizon, whether it's a new installation, a much-needed repair, or a complete replacement, homeowners and businesses in San Diego, California, begin the crucial search for a reliable and professional contractor. The choice of a roofing company is a significant decision that impacts the long-term safety, value, and structural integrity of a property. Coastal Roofing & Sheet Metal is a company operating in the San Diego area, and this article aims to provide a comprehensive and factual overview of their services, location, and the reputation they have built within the local community.
Coastal Roofing & Sheet Metal, as a subcontractor for various construction projects, is a business that operates in the competitive Southern California market. Their operations are centered around providing roofing and sheet metal services to both residential and commercial clients. The company's name suggests a specialization in sheet metal work, which can be an important component of a roofing system, including flashing, gutters, and other custom fabrications. This specialization is a key element of their business, setting them apart from contractors who focus solely on tile or shingle installation. For those in the San Diego area who need more than just a standard roof, a company with sheet metal expertise could be a necessary partner.
The local business environment is highly dependent on trust and communication. The reviews provided about Coastal Roofing & Sheet Metal, while reflecting a single, negative experience, highlight several critical aspects of a client-contractor relationship. These include the importance of respecting property lines, clear communication, and accountability for work performed. In a densely populated area like San Diego, where properties are often in close proximity, a contractor's awareness of their surroundings and their ability to manage a worksite cleanly and safely is paramount. The feedback suggests a significant breakdown in these areas, which is a key consideration for potential clients. A contractor's responsiveness, particularly when issues arise, is a major factor in customer satisfaction and a business's reputation.
Coastal Roofing & Sheet Metal is based in San Diego, CA 92037, USA. This address places them within a prime location to serve a wide range of communities across the city. San Diego is a sprawling metropolis, and a local presence is invaluable for a roofing contractor. Being based in the 92037 zip code, which includes areas like La Jolla, positions them to efficiently serve both coastal and inland neighborhoods. This local accessibility is often a deciding factor for clients who prioritize quick response times, especially for urgent matters like a leak or storm damage. A local base also implies a deeper understanding of regional building codes and the specific challenges that San Diego's unique coastal climate presents to roofing materials.
However, it is important to note that a single address can be indicative of a broader service area. A company with a San Diego address likely serves the entire county and potentially beyond, providing services to a diverse clientele with varying roofing needs. For local residents, this means they have a contractor who is not just familiar with the city's geography but also with its unique blend of architectural styles, from older homes with tile roofs to modern commercial buildings with flat or metal roofs.
Based on publicly available information and their name, Coastal Roofing & Sheet Metal likely offers a variety of services to its clients. These services would typically cover both the residential and commercial sectors.

- Residential and Commercial Roofing: The company likely handles projects for both homeowners and businesses, from new roof installations on residential properties to large-scale commercial roofing jobs, which often require specialized materials and techniques.
- Sheet Metal Fabrication and Installation: Given their name, this is a core service. It would include the custom fabrication and installation of sheet metal components like flashing, gutters, downspouts, and architectural metalwork, which are essential for water diversion and preventing leaks.
- Roof Repair and Maintenance: All roofs require maintenance and may eventually need repairs. This service would involve diagnosing and fixing leaks, replacing damaged sections, and providing preventative maintenance to extend the life of a roof.
- Subcontracting Services: As demonstrated in the provided review, the company operates as a subcontractor for larger construction projects, working with general builders to complete the roofing portion of a job.
Based on their business name and general industry practices, Coastal Roofing & Sheet Metal possesses certain features that could be appealing to local users.
- Specialization in Sheet Metal: The inclusion of "Sheet Metal" in their name suggests a key specialization that not all roofing contractors offer. This expertise is crucial for complex roofing systems and custom architectural details.
- Local Presence in San Diego: A local address is a significant advantage, allowing for quicker service response times and a better understanding of regional building needs and regulations.
- Experience as a Subcontractor: Operating as a subcontractor indicates experience working with general contractors and on larger, more complex construction projects, which can be a sign of a company's capability and professional standing.

Coastal Roofing & Sheet Metal Reviews
Tony Parker General Builders' subcontractor Coastal Roofing and Sheet Metal performed a roof tile removal on my next-door neighbors home. They were extremely careless with the work they performed causing large amounts of debris to fall in my yard, hit my home, and damaged a brand new 10K air conditioner I had just bought that same week.On top of that the staff trespassed in my gated yard, without permission, to try and clean it up before I got home. My son was home and called me as he was frightened why people were in our yard. I have full communication (email and texts) and photo records between myself, Coastal Roofing and Sheet Metal and their main contractor Tony Parker General Builders, and my air conditioner specialist which clearly does not disputer this happening.I was also called names by the foreman on the job when I told them to leave my yard. Initially, the owner apologized and offered to do some work for me. I thought I would give him a chance since he blamed everything on the foreman, but that was a mistake since once he was done with the job next-door he completely stopped communicating with me.I have since tried to get either owner to submit a claim to their insurance for the damages which they will not do. I am also in the process of filing a police report for the damages and trespassing.Once I finally got ahold of Mr. Parker (after six months of asking my neighbor) as he never called me during any of this, I complained to him about Coastal Roofing and at that time Coastal Roofing did offer to pay me $500. This is nowhere close to what the repairs would cost and does not even cover the monies I have spent trying to deal with this stressful situation.I am hopeful Coastal Roofing and/or Mr. Parker have insurance and will do the right thing and submit a claim or fix the damage.
