Elwell Construction specializes in a range of exterior construction services, with a primary focus on roofing and siding for both residential and commercial properties. Their offerings are designed to address the needs of property owners looking for installation, replacement, or repair of these vital structural components.
- Roof Installation and Replacement: This includes the removal of old roofing materials and the installation of new roofs. Based on customer feedback, they appear to handle projects involving significant roofing work on both houses and garages. They aim for the installed roof to "look good."
- Siding Installation and Replacement: Similar to their roofing services, Elwell Construction also undertakes projects involving the installation and replacement of siding. Customers have noted that the installed siding also "look good," indicating their capability in this area.
- Roof and Siding Repair: While the provided information focuses on new installations or replacements, it can be inferred that a contractor specializing in these areas would also offer repair services for existing roofs and siding that have sustained damage or wear over time.
- Dryer Vent "Fixes": One customer mentioned an attempt by the crew to "fix" a dryer vent issue. While this specific instance resulted in a need for further repair by an HVAC professional, it indicates that they might attempt to address minor ancillary issues related to their primary scope of work, though their expertise in such specific areas might vary.
- Re-installation of External Fixtures: In one instance, a customer requested the re-installation of outdoor TVs, which the company agreed to do, though with a delay. This suggests they may assist with reattaching elements that were removed during the roofing or siding process.
It is important for potential clients to clarify the exact scope of work for any specialized requests outside of core roofing and siding, especially concerning technical installations like dryer vents or other home systems.
Based on the provided customer feedback, certain aspects of Elwell Construction's operations can be highlighted:
- Quality of Core Work: The primary roofing and siding jobs themselves are noted by customers to be "done well" and "look good." This indicates that the core construction work on the roof and siding is of acceptable quality, meeting the aesthetic and structural requirements.
- Project Management: The company operates on a contract basis with payment schedules, indicating a structured approach to project execution and financial agreements.
- Local Presence: Being based in Erie, PA, allows them to serve the local community directly and respond to local needs.
It is also important to consider all aspects of customer feedback when evaluating a contractor. The provided reviews highlight some areas that potential clients should be aware of and discuss thoroughly before engaging services:
- Professionalism and Communication: Some customers have noted issues related to professionalism, including blocking driveways, inappropriate language towards third parties (e.g., mail carrier), and challenges with the placement of equipment like dumpsters. Consistent communication regarding on-site logistics and adherence to agreed-upon schedules, particularly for ancillary tasks, appears to be an area where clients have expressed concerns.
- Adherence to Payment Schedules and Promises: There were instances where requests for payments occurred sooner than contractually agreed, and promises for follow-up tasks (like re-installing TVs) experienced delays. Clear and consistent adherence to contracted terms and commitments is a point for discussion.
- Technical Scope: While their primary work on roofs and siding is noted to be satisfactory, attempts to "fix" other home systems, such as dryer vents, have reportedly led to further complications requiring specialized repair. Clients should ensure clear boundaries are set regarding the scope of work and external system interactions.
- Site Management and Cleanup: While the core job is done well, specific instances like dumpster placement and overall management of the work area, as well as adherence to cleanup, have been raised as concerns.

Elwell Construction Reviews
I have to agree with the lack of professionalism posts. I had the same experience. Many examples from blocking the driveway while chatting with each other, putting the dumpster in front of the neighbors house when I asked for it to be in front of mine. Asked them to move it, they said they would but then never did. One guy swore at my mail person and called her a effing B when she asked them politely not to park in front of the mailbox. The job itself was done well, but they also said there was some issue with the dryer vent and they had to “fix” it. It is so messed up even a dryer vent repair service can’t fix it and I have to call HVAC to repair. Then the guy who put my ring camera back up made it so I can’t charge it because I can’t pull the bottom panel out. We had a contract with payment schedules but JE kept asking for money sooner than we had to at least 3x. We felt bad and gave it to him but asked that he put our outside tvs back up because it was summer. He promised he would the next day and it was over a week. So if you can get past those issues, as I said, the roof and siding look good.

Apr 11, 2024 · Kim SeastoneAs others have stated, this company shows a lack of professionalism in that they show complete disregard for others. They completely blocked the road a block from my house and let two cars sit there while they chatted for literally 10 minutes. Turning around and going around the block was not a realistic option due to the narrowness of the street and the cars parked on either side. Even the consideration of driving your truck around the block to let traffic through would have shown some care for the people who live in the neighborhood. Alas, such human decency was beyond them

Apr 15, 2022 · Nate S.They worked on a neighbors roof and completely made it impossible to navigate our road. When asked to move from being parked in my grass the individual was rude and acted like I was asking too much, stated there was no “no parking” signs which was true but my front yard is not a parking spot. Not pleased with the unprofessional attitude after I stood and waited patiently for him to get of his phone.

Dec 01, 2017 · Jessica VegaMy experience with them was one of my worst to say the least, no respect at all for anybody but themselves, especially the owner Jason. They make shortcuts on work to get the job done faster, and they leave a huge mess after. Do not recommend for anyone going forward. Thanks but no thanks!
