The Dirty Roofer Introduce
Hello, Massachusetts homeowners! Navigating the world of home contracting can sometimes feel like a daunting task, especially when it comes to a crucial and costly project like a new roof. Here in the Bay State, where our homes endure everything from coastal winds to heavy snow loads, a reliable roof is non-negotiable. Finding a roofing contractor who offers quality work at a fair price is the holy grail for many. This article is designed to give you an honest and detailed overview of The Dirty Roofer, a local business serving the Boston, MA, area. We’ll dive into their services, their location, and what makes them a distinct choice for locals, all based on publicly available customer feedback.
The Dirty Roofer has established a reputation for being a contractor you can count on for quality work without breaking the bank. The name itself suggests a hands-on, no-frills approach, and customer reviews seem to confirm this. One customer, a real estate professional, took a chance on them for a small job and was so impressed that they hired them for a much larger project. This client’s detailed review highlights several key aspects of the company’s operation: they do good work at a fair price. The client personally inspected the work, confirming that the new asphalt roof, which had multiple layers, and the complex gutter system were done properly. The yard was left clean, and the gutters were hung correctly, all of which are critical details that speak to the quality of their craftsmanship.
The same review also gives a candid and valuable insight into the company’s business model. It brings up the classic contracting trade-off: fast, cheap, or good—you can only pick two. According to the review, The Dirty Roofer excels at “good” and “cheap” (or, more accurately, “affordable” and "fair"). The tradeoff is speed. The customer notes that the team, being on roofs all day, can be slow to respond to texts and may not have a dedicated office staff. They write out contracts by hand, indicating a more traditional, straightforward approach to business. This is an important piece of information for any potential client to consider. If you are in a rush and need a job done yesterday, they may not be the right fit. However, if you are patient and prioritize getting the job done right at a reasonable cost, they are an excellent option. This transparency is a refreshing and a great sign of an honest business.
The fact that this client, a real estate professional, has been selectively recommending them to other clients is a powerful endorsement. It suggests a high level of trust and satisfaction, as a real estate agent’s reputation is closely tied to the quality of the contractors they recommend. The willingness to send more and bigger jobs their way as they continue to perform well for clients is a testament to the consistent quality of their work. It's a relationship built on trust and proven performance, which is what every homeowner hopes for when hiring a contractor.
The Dirty Roofer is located at 85 Willow Ct, Boston, MA 02196, USA. This address in Boston provides them with a strong local base to serve the wider metropolitan area and surrounding communities. Being situated within Boston allows for easy access to a large client base and a deep understanding of the city's unique architectural styles and permitting requirements. Their main phone number is (617) 233-8489, and they can also be reached on their mobile at +1 617-233-8489. As mentioned, it's good to keep in mind that due to their hands-on work ethic, they may be slow to respond to texts, so a phone call might be a more effective way to initiate contact or follow up, especially for non-urgent inquiries.
Based on customer reviews, here are some of the services The Dirty Roofer provides:
- Asphalt Roof Replacement: A customer review explicitly mentions a large job involving the replacement of a multi-layered asphalt roof. This indicates they are proficient in handling complex and extensive roofing projects.
- Gutter System Installation and Replacement: The same review praised their work on a "large and fairly complex gutter system," highlighting their expertise in this critical component of a home's exterior drainage.
- Roof Inspections and Small Jobs: A review mentions starting with a small job, which suggests they are open to taking on projects of various sizes. The fact that the customer personally inspected the roof also implies that they are comfortable with clients examining their work.
Here are some of the key features and highlights that make The Dirty Roofer a suitable choice for locals, as inferred from available data:
- Affordable and Fair Pricing: This is a major highlight. The reviews consistently state that they offer good work at a fair price, making them an excellent choice for homeowners on a budget who don’t want to compromise on quality.
- High-Quality Workmanship: Customers who have personally inspected the work, even for complex projects like multi-layered asphalt roofs and intricate gutter systems, have been thoroughly satisfied with the results.
- Cleanliness: The mention of a clean yard after a major roofing project is a testament to their professionalism and respect for the client's property.
- Honest and Traditional Business Model: Their no-frills, hands-on approach and direct communication, even if sometimes slow, are appreciated by clients who value authenticity and straightforward dealings over a slick, corporate façade.

The Dirty Roofer Reviews
Had these guys referred to me by a pretty good mason. Took a chance with them on a small job and they did a decent job at a fair price. Went up on the roof and inspected it myself. Next gave them a larger job ripping and replacing an asphalt roof with 3+ layers plus redoing a large and fairly complex gutter system. They did the work well at a fair price. The yard was clean. The gutters are hung properly. The roof looks good.Of course, in contracting, you pick two: fast, cheap, good. These guys are affordable and do good work. So forget about having this job done fast. They are up on roofs all day, so can be slow to respond to texts. They write out contracts by hand. They don't pay an office admin. Your job will take a while, but it will get done. They also like to chat.I've been selectively recommending them to real estate clients and haven't had anyone come back yet with a bad review. As they continue to do good work for clients, I'll keep sending them more and bigger jobs.
